Hello. I was a patient of Dr Schlesinger. Many of his patients will tell you how great of a surgeon he is. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. You can get the details of my story from my profile. Obviously, my opinion has a bias to it because I am a victim, but I tried to be extremely factual and not exaggerate.   We all know there are risks associated with surgery, but much of the damage and suffering I endured was due to Dr Schlesinger's neglect and lack of experience. I have since retained an attorney and at some point in the near future, the suit will be filed and be made public. When I first called this attorney (randomly out of an internet search), he was quite surprised when I mentioned Schlesinger's name because he was already working on another case against Schlesinger. Supposedly Schlesinger messed this other victim up alot worse than me. I have heard that Dr Schlesinger has a significant number of lawsuits filed against him from other states. My attorney located these lawsuits, from Illinois where he practiced previously. Suppsedly, it is difficult to know about a doctor's lawsuits unless you go to the exact county where they are filed to pull the records. The depositions of these suits have been ordered and my attorney is reviewing them. Here is the link. http://www.judici.com/courts/cases/case_search.jsp?court=IL0 04015J&case_number=&litigant_name=schlesinger&charge_text. We are also in the process of placing a formal complaint with the Arizona Medical Board so that other people can be made aware of Dr Schlesinger's actions.   One thing I strongly suggest if you are already a patient of Dr Schlesinger. Obtain copies of your records as you go along. You are legally entitled to them. Also, keep careful notes for yourself  (a detailed journal). When I obtained my records from Dr Schlesinger, we noticed a pattern where he phrased things in a certain way to "cover his behind" in the event of some future litigation. My attorney said that this is typical of a doctor who has been sued so many times. They become a "professional litigant". In my case, he fortunately slipped up and contradicted himself a few times.   I'm sorry if I am raising unnecessary alarm, I don't mean to scare you. I just wish I had a chance to do it all over again. Before my surgery, I was quite naive. I believed that all doctors knew what they were doing and that they could be trusted 100%. Now I know it's all about money for them and covering their butts against lawsuits. Good luck and keep me posted!

OMG!  I am beyond stunned that this man is still practicing!  I am so sorry for all the suffering you've had to endure at the hands of a surgeon you trusted.  And I am so angry on your behalf.  I hope things continue to improve for you and that all turns out well for you in the end.

By the way, I think that this could only be classified as raising very NECESSARY alarm and that anyone reading this SHOULD be scared!  It's not the infection - infections can happen - so much as his complete and callous denial of it and his total disregard for your well-being.  Not to mention his covering by blaming the whole mess on you by claiming that you were non-compliant.  Heck, you didn't have a chance to be non-compliant!

Good for you for telling your truth so that others can make informed choices.

So Blessed!

I had a consultation with Schlesinger and was not impressed, but I was looking for a revision to DS and he doesn't have the skills to do such a difficult surgery so he tried to talk me into a revision to ERNY.

That being said, I've spoken to a few of his patients who got their virgin DS with him and they were quite happy with him.

I would say that if you're looking for a revision, look elsewhere, if you're looking for a virgin DS, he may be your man, but proceed carefully.

Flee. Flee at once. Go to CA to Dr. John Rabkin. That is my advice. Period.

He's a butcher with a horrible rep within the medical community.  MOST surgeons have never been sued, he's been sued so many times that the last two times he self paid the lawsuits so that he wouldn't lose his med malpractice ins.  There are 15 lawsuits that I know of, 12 in process and 3 pending.

Lizzie is another but she just deactivated yesterday.  Otherwise you could have read her story.

You know Joyce?  She posts on the AZ boards?  On THAT board she sings his praises.  On private boards she talks about what a butcher he is.  Don't you get it?  Those people are PAID to post and push his name.  After he was done with Joyce she now has to take three different body odor tablets, she struggles with her labs, she hasn't been able to get them to normal range since her revision... he's a butcher with a license.

Give yourself every chance, just go to someone with some skill.  ANYONE with skill.  Schlesinger isn't it.
