Some brands I could never get past the protein-y taste.  For me, Unjury was the worst and it's supposed to be unflavored!  Best thing to do is send off for samples from the various sellers of these products.  A lot of them advertise right here.  Better to spend a couple of bucks for postage than $30 for a tub of something that makes you gag.  That's what I did and ultimately found the Body Fortress brand you can get at Walmart is the one I like the best.  I buy the vanilla flavor primarily because it mixes well with other flavors and additives like fruit or SF syrups.  Just gotta keep trying and taste testing them.  Eventually you will be healed and have the capacity to eat enough to get all your protein from food so you don't have to despair if you never find one you like.  Just need to find one you can tolerate until you reach that point.

Different brands of protein powder taste different.  I've never tried Isopure.  But I've tried many brands and some taste pretty good and some are awful.  If you don't like Isopure, try something else.  Stay away from the protein shots, though.  Those are collagen protein, which is not absorbed well and does not have all the amino acids we need.  They are a waste of money.

1. Order samples -- and dont skip flavors you dont think you'll like.  I skipped chocolate at first becasue I wasn't a fan pre-op and now I love it.  Here is a list of ideas where to get samples: http://pouchiepoo.blogspot.com

2. Mixing Liquid -- try using different liquids.  I did not like most of them with JUS****er, or just milk.. I started mixing them with decaf coffee or half water/half soy milk, or diet V8 splash and found them to be much better.

3. Learn to doctor them up! -- get yourself some sugar free syrups, flavor drops, sf pudding mixes etc....

Here are my current 2 favorites - both made in a 24oz blender bottle:

---Java Spice
1-1.5 cups cold decaf coffee (or regular if you prefer)
4oz soy milk or skim milk
1 Scoop protein (nectar chocolate truffle, cinnamonspice from allthewhey, cookies&cream body fortress, any vanilla etc..)
1-2 tbsp sugar free hazelnut creamer
Dash of pumpkin pie spice
shake shake shake -- fill with ice, sip

I have a zillion versions I make with cold coffee now and I love them all.

--- Pina Colada-ish
2 Cups Diet V8 Splash Tropical
4oz soy milk or skim milk
1 Scoop Jay Robb Pina Colada Protein (or Isopure banana/pineapple/orange powder version)
1-2 tsp sf orange jello (if you like more orange flavor)
Few drops coconut extract
shake shake shake - fill with ice, sip

Now that I learned what to mix with -- I can pretty much "fix" any kind of protein -- but I do have a short list of about 6-8 that I prefer over the rest.

If you have a GNC close by you can buy protein powder there and if you try it and dont like it they'll return it for you.  Better then being out 30 bucks for something you have no idea you'll like or hate and waste it.  Good luck!

It's all about doctoring your protein :0)

Take some protein powder, ice cubes, FF milk, peanut butter, SF chocolate syrup and blend NUMMY!

protein powder, greek style yogurt, strawberries, splenda, ice, FF milk and blend YUM!

The combinations are endless

peanut butter, fruit, SF davinci syrup, splenda, yogurt, honey, (ssshhh... SF Ice cream)
There are so many ways around that nasty protein taste!  You can do it!!!

Try the NECTAR brand by the Vitamin Shop. They have different flavors and it dissolves very well

I'll tell you my favorite.  Eight ounces of skim milk, one scoop of vanilla protein powder, a heaping spoonful of General Foods International coffee mix - any flavor as long as it's sugar free and decaf, right now I'm using French vanilla cafe.  And a handful of ice cubes, mixed up in the blender.  It's yummy.  I've used several different brands of protein powder in this sort of shake, and while I have some I like better than others, it's been pretty good with every brand I've tried.  The coffee covers up the protein taste pretty well.

New post ops have sensitive taste buds. That makes finding the "good tasting" protein an issue for some post ops. Just because someone likes one particular brand doesn't mean you'll like it as well. I found a generic whey isolate protein that is truly unflavored. It mixes easily with hot or cold foods, and really has no flavor. It's on my profile blogs.  Those protein shots can be nasty, and I personally found the Isopure ready made drinks to be horrible. Others say they like them. I bought 6 of the Isopure ready made protein drinks the day I came home from the hospital. I couldn't finish one of the bottles, and ended up throwing them all away. I then began using the Ispopure powdered protein, which I found tolerable. Yet, many post ops can't stand the taste of the Isopure protein powdered drinks either. Everyone is somewhat different. But I do hear from my in my 3 support groups that they can easily tolerate the generic unflavored whey isolate protein I let them sample. DAVE
