Nissa,

Serum calcium levels mean nothing without D and PTH levels.

You calcium can be normal but if your D is low and PTH is high your body is leaching calcium from your bones to produce that level.

Just a FYI,

At this point I am very frustrated due to not knowing what to look for in the lab tests that were taken. It was like pulling teeth to get my pcp to test my pt ptt & vit k for my slow clotting blood. I do want to take an active roll in my health but my drs. fight me along the way.

I have had the same problem and finally sa my PCP down and had a serious talk about whether he was going to be on board with me ar whether he felt that we were at cross-purposes. Since I have moved I have 'fired' on PCP and love the one II have now.

Your PCP should be ordering whatever labs you want or need so you can be proactive about your health.,

Good luck to you!

Personally I would just order samples from www.celebratevitamins.com or www.bariatricadvantage.com and see which you like better.  For me I'd rather pay a little more to know I'm getting the right thing than run all over town getting stuff at various places.  I order everything I need from celebrate and it costs me about $120 every 90 days --- which is still about 1/3rd what I was paying monthly for all my Pre-op diabetes/insulin/cholesterol meds.
