Pregnancy after RNY?

 I have read that lap band is the way to go if you want to get pregnant later on in life.  But has anyone gotten pregnant after RNY?

Yes.

I have been pregnant three times since RNY.

 

The only reason that people think that Lap Band is the "way to go" if you plan to get prego later on is because you can get prego sooner, than after RNY.   My dr told me 1 year, he said if I went with RNY he wanted me to wait up to 18 months....  not a huge difference and as we all know, all surgeons are different.

YOu can get pregnant after ALL the WLS.. including the DS as well! FOr RNY and DS it is best to wait 18-24 months to maximize your weight loss and because you may be in ketosis which can cause Static Encephalopathy ( permanent irreversable brain damage)  to the unborn baby.

Yes...come visit out board (under weight loss related, then pregnancy after WLS).  The only thing I'd tell you off the bat is to wait until you're cleared by your dr....and to know that if you have RNY, you run the risk of malabsoring birth control pills...so use a back up method until you're cleared for trying to conceive.
