sleeping pil
i'm not sure of the answer to this question since i'm on a prescribed one. but if you haven't taken a sleeping pill since you've had surgery make sure you take it next to your bed. i dunno about most people but within 10 mintues i feel like a stoner and need to go to sleep right that second. ambien was gave me the wierdest stoner feeling but i'm not on that anymore. i know i've tried tylenol simply sleep and it worked i have major sleep issues damn brain won't shut off long enough. but anywho just some friendly advice take it right before you are ready to sleep because you won't last long
I know of very few over the counter sleeping aids. It seems they are all the same ingreident, packaged by different companies -- diphenhydramine, which is Benedryl by trade name. I know the Unisom that I bought from Sam's Club years ago before I wised up was diphenhydramine packaged in a pretty blue pill in a pretty blue bottle with a much higher price tag.
Let me also reiterate the plea that you do not take Tylenol PM unless you actually NEED the Tylenol portion of it. 1) you can save a boatload of cash by buying generic benedryl (remember, diphenhydramine is the word you're looking for), and 2) Americans are taking way, WAY too much Tylenol and are giving our livers too much to deal with needlessly.

1000mg of tylenol in 24 hours is the maximum safe dose for adults.
I agree with the other posters about generic benadryl, 25-50 mg should help you sleep, but remember that it is an antihistamine and can dry you out! You can get a 100 count (small capsules) of the Walmart brand for just a few bucks. I haven't had surgery yet, but when I was pregnant and miserable towards the end and not sleeping my OB had me take 50 mg of benadryl. I think it saved my sanity, or whatever was left at that time.
