Intresting way to "dump"
Last night I dumped. Not cool because I don't really know why. It was about 10pm and I was fixing my baby a bottle of 2% Milk. I took a sip and put his bottle into the bottle warmer. As I was waiting for the bottle to heat up I remembered that I didn't take my last Iron pill of the day. So what the heck, I popped the last little pills with some water and went about my business. As soon as I walked upstairs to give my baby his bottle the pain hit. I dumped for about 30 min, it started with me getting very hot as if I were having a hot flash, then the stomach pain, and lastly the dry heaving. What the hell... Ok maybe I shouldn't have takin the Iron pill so late. Or maybe it was the milk (which I have never had a problem with) but it was really only a sip. I don't get it. Anyone have any Ideas why this happened?
That sounds like the pill got stuck in the stoma--outlet from the stomach to the intestine is very small, the size of a pencil eraser. Take your pills with lots of liquids. If anything gets stuck, I get a mouthful of saliva, and foam, nausea, then I vomit or wretch. It's nasty and worse than dumping for me.
This does not sound like dumping to me at all. This sounds more like a stuck episode.
(And before someone chastizes her for taking iron with some milk in her pouch -- there wasn't enough calcium to block the receptor sites. The magical number is 300mg to inhibit ionic iron. 600mg to inhibit heme iron. Just in case someone wants to, you know, bug her about this - don't.)

That is not dumping. Iron is VERY irritating to the stomach. I'm not sure what form you took, but I suggest carbonyl iron. It is the least irritating and the most absorbed. Take it with a bit of protein to buffer the stomach. The protein also enhances its absorption. Also take it with some vitamin C to enhance absorption.
Even though it is best absorbed on an empty stomach, I would NEVER take it without a snack because of the stomach upset.
