Q: Calcet lemon creamy bites (Calcium citrate supplement)?

So I ordered these off of bariatriceating.com and they are AWESOME.  They're like eating little petit fours...they are SO GOOD.

However, considering I need 1500 mg of calcium per day that's equal to 3 bites.  They each have 40 calories.

So I'm using 120 calories per day just in calcium supplements.  I feel like I'm wasting a lot of my daily calories.

Is anybody else using these supplements?  Do you think it's worth 120 calories per day to keep using them?  Or how are you balancing them with something else?

Thanks!

I use them occasionally because I really like them.  But certainly not for all my calcium.  Too many calories, plus too expensive.  Aren't they something like $12.99 for a box of 30?  So if you used them all the time, it would cost $39 a month just for calcium.  I use ENS from Celebrate, which gives me 1000 mg calcium a day.  Sometimes I use Upcal D for the rest and sometimes I use the Calcet bites.  So I use no more than one a day, and not every day.

I too was using this product.  they surely are delicious and i too described them as petit fours.  HOwever when i realized that I was having 120 calories on these delicious calcium product I asked my boyfriend to return my unused boxes.  For me it was becoming an addiction and a danger zone.  I am now using the calicum chocolate chewables by the same company.  Too dangerous for me.  Have a good day.

That's what I figured =(  Shoulda known they were too good to be true all the time!  Although, for those of you reading this who are having trouble finding and taking a good calcium supplement, it's definitely worth ordering a small box and trying them...I promise you will LOVE them.

I did pick up some Wellesse liquid calcium at the drug store today that I haven't tried yet but it's like two tablespoons a day that I might try to incorporate in....I'm a little timid to try it, but really, how bad can it be?

Wellesse isn't really a good choice, unless they have some new formula that is all calcium citrate.  I think the only formula they have is a combination of calcium citrate and tricalcium phosphate, and tricalcium phosphate is not absorbed well at all.  Since you don't know how much is calcium citrate and how much is tricalcium phosphate, you have no way of knowing how much calcium you'll really get from it.

My BFF who is 3 years out gave me a pack as a congrats packette, she says she has one a day w/ her morning coffee and it's like her "special treat" so maybe you can mix it up w/ the chewables/tablets. This is what I plan on doing.

Hope it helps

Early out - it feels like a lot.

To me, it's like a snack, that I love.  And I have to hide them.  :x  It's worth it to me, because it gets me to TAKE my calcium (when I have some in the house)..

I use these as a once-a-day-deal in addition to my Costco/Kirkland calcium citrate . Man, I think they taste good, especially considering they are GOOD for us.
