Charcot Marie Tooth Disease
My hubby had to have his right leg amputated because of complications of CMT. He has battled bottom of the foot ulcers for over 7 years and one got infected causing grangreen and there was no other choice.
He is doing very well now and he is just starting his WLS journey. He is having trouble getting referred.
He is usually right beside me if you have any questions or want to talk to him...
Hi Kelli,
Congrats on your weight loss.
I was wondering what your Dr's concerns were re: CMT and the surgery?? are you able to share those with me. I also have CMT and I am scheduled for an info session August 11 of 2014. I have this feeling, mostly because people, including some Dr's are not very informed on CMT that they may decline or hesitate to do the procedure. I am sure then health benefits of having the procedure outweigh the health risk associated with being morbidly obese .. so I figured if I can do all the research and get my ducks in a row for what is already known then it might make it more understandable from all perspectives. I have mobility issues which has helped not caused but helped me attain the unhealthy weight I am now. So I am looking forward to this procedure.
Having CMT and having the procedure do you have any advice to follow. what worked what didn't for you? from your perspective did your CMT progress any quicker from having surgery?
very interested in your journey and experience.
THX :)
