I hope Oprah gets it through her head someday!  Maybe after she retires Dr. Oz will no longer have to be her trained seal and he'll do a show on bariatric surgery success and you can go on and tell 'em what it's all about!

I'll gladly take the supplements instead of dealing with a slow death by diabetes.

Gonna try to find that program on the innerwebs, too.  I'd like to see it.

I do not have as much malabsorption as a "normal" DS, but my diabetes is still WAY easier to control. Pre-op, I was up to 2500mg metformin and 50mcg sitagliptin (Januvia) daily and still had A1C readings as high as 7.9 not long before my surgery. I now no longer need ANY diabetes meds and have been consistently seeing A1Cs between 5.0 and 5.2. I do NOT consider myself cured (I cannot pass a meal tolerance test), but I would be considered "cured" or non-diabetic by most doctors and even endocrinologists. I just happen to be pickier about it than them  :P
