Whatever you take if you make sure it is not on a completely empty stomach and have some yogurt every day it will minimize your gi upset. GLI'd have to disagree with that. Some drugs need to be taken with food, some need to be taken on an empty stomach.
If it does not matter with a given drug an upset stomach with an antibiotic is typically given with food, then it causes diarrhea. If someone has diarrhea then on an empty stomach is better.
It totally depends on the drug and the person.
Point...taken, some drugs are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach. We should all read the labels on our Rxs. Most antibiotics are much more easily tolerated with food, yet some people don't handle them well regardless. The yogurt is to help minimize diarrhea from the antibiotics killing off some of the good bacteria in our gut. Bottom line, read your labels, and ask your doctor/pharmacist what you can do to help you tolerate your meds.

Yogurt... HA! I'm sorry, we disagree again! ;o)
If the yogurt has a specific bacteria culture than it can potentially be helpful. If it doesn't have the right bacteria culture than it isn't going to make a difference.'
The best "good bacteria" is that taken by tablet form that doesn't release until it's in the intestinal system. That's not to say there is no good short acting bacteria, it's just more beneficial if it can survive the stomach acid in the lower part of the stomach.

Perhaps you are referring to Dr. Gary W. Elmer... there is no such Gary Wilmer. And, to set the record straight, here is a direct quote from Elmer.
...says Gary W. Elmer of the University of Washington in Seattle. "But I would certainly consume a yogurt that contained a live lactobacillus, which I do."
Yes, even the probiotic expert consumes yogurt for its probiotic qualities.
