I had knee surgery, wisdom teeth out, and a c-section all while obese (morbidly).  I worried too about all the potenial problems, but a good surgeon should explain some of the scarier risks are small in chances.  I can tell you, it was the best 2 hour nap I took after I got the ****tail from the ansthesiologist in all cases.

I had open gall bladder surgery at 28 years old, i was close to 300 pounds and have asthma.  I was cut from my belly button to my bra line.  Mine was infected due to misdiagnosis and was the size of soft ball, i had to spend 11 days in the hospital, 3 of those preop because i needed fluid and antibiotics. They found over 25 stones and 5 of those were almost as big as marbles.  The open surgery is rough, they told I had to have it done open because of my weight and the severity of my gallbladder.  I pulled through fine, it is very scary to have a major surgery but it must be done.  You will feel sooo much better.  Please quit smoking though, it will help your lungs and lower the incidence of getting pneumonia... i didn't smoke, but when i got home i got bronchitis.  You will be fine!!!

I had laparoscopic gallbladder surgery when I was in my 40's, obese, and smoked(thank goodness I quit). My surgery was on a Thursday morning and I was home by 8:00 p.m. the same day. I was able to return to work (I'm a nurse in a hospital)by Tuesday. I've had several surgeries in my lifetime and this one was by far the easiest for me. I hope your experience is just as good.
