I am 3 days out on a clear liquid diet. I have stuck to broth, sugar free jello and herbal teas.
Yesterday night I tried Campbells Chickien noodle soup, straining out the noodles and chicken bits.
I seemed okay yesterday.
This morning, I switched to lipton tea and added torani sugarfree syrup to sweeten it. Within 15 minutes I was running to the bathroom.
SO... is this normal? I haven't had a 'bowel movement ' since I have been home. I don't know if this is just a typical body respose or the so called 'dumping'.

Any suggestions would be helpful!  Also any broth, tea or clear liquid recipies would be terrific to get me thru the next 4 days....:)

Thankyou to all of you that have given me support I apperciate all your suggestions

Just running to the bathroom is not dumping.

It might have been due to sugar alcohols in the sugar free syrup.   Does it have a lot of sugar alcohols in it?

Are you doing any clear protein drinks like Isopure?

Hello-

I'm going to say it was probably the sugarfree syrup.  The sugar alcohols can cause this.  I never had a problem with them till after surgery and it only seems to affect me on an empty stomach.  about a month after surgery, I had about 5 sugarfree werther candies and within 20 minutes...OMG.  Splenda has not given me any issues.

Deena.....naughty girl...no chicken bits...drain the soup thru a strainer.  Check out sugar free popscicles  they are good....It's not dumping you had but I'm glad you went!  I had constipation!

Hi Dee!
Glad you are doing so well! LOL...Patty must have misread that you ate chicken bits. She is a sweet heart and so helpful to everyone! If you dump, you will know. I have had symptoms such as sweating, rapid heart beat, feeling of heaviness or extreme exhaustion etc....you just feel awful.  I have heard you can have diarrhea but I have not experienced that part of dumping.

Early on, I craved sour flavors so I mixed Crystal Light Orange Sunrise with a half pack of the lemonade and then added a scoop of plain protein powder. I really wanted orange juice but the plain orange was not sour enough. I liked sugar free Popsicles too because it felt like eating but wasn't. I really don't know any recipes for liquids...it will ok in a few days! Hit me up again for mushy stuff recipes...lol...I do better there.       Connie

Sorry girl I should have read your post better but I was on showing a friend about it and had friends here so I was guilty and didn't do it...I had to get off to be socialable!  You did the right thing and be happy you went to the bathroom.  I had constipation...all our bodies are different.  Josie should have told you dumping is not dumping!  It's abdominal pain and cramping so bad and sweating...and feeling lightheaded...OK for me dumping which I didn't do for 1.5 yrs ...I didn't think I did it.  I ate some crackers obviously too many and dumping for me is lightheadedness and sweating from head to toe..crazy we are all different..it's from eating carbo= sugars.  I don't think the torani did it.  Your body just needed to get rid of that. BE happy...I didn't poop for 4 days and had to resort to MOM.  Remember you are healing and you can always call me...676-0668 cell if you have a problem.  I didn't get to see you so sorry not such a good day and on the way home blew out a tire on the side of 41frwy at 7:30 by the childrens exit...It was terrible.  I didn't get home until 9:30pm....It was a terrible trip home for sure.  God Bless dear friend Patty

Different surgery, but don't expect things to feel "normal" for a while.  Your body has been through a big shock and it's relearning how food hits it.  Eventually you'll be fine and things will sit better.  Like the other poster said, it's better to be able to poop (even if you have to run!) than to be bound up.  Liquid in, liquid out.  Hang in there!

I have not tried the Isopure clear protien. Good suggestion.
I will get back to all of you who offered recipies for the 'mushy phase'! THANKS

I looked at the sugarfree syrup--- how do I determine if there is sugar alchol  I sure hope that isn't the reason... I was looking forward to some of the recipies i have seen with it.
