I had been taking my Synthroid at bedtime, at least 2 hours after eating or taking vitamins or other medications.  Since starting Cytomel, I am taking it first in the morning 2 hours before other vitamins, meds, eating and then later in the afternoon, again alone at least 2 hours after meds, vitamins or eating.  I am having challenges in timing of my medications due to also being on Carafate for a Jejunojejunal ulcer as well as Nexium, and numerous other medications and my required vitamins and minerals.  It seems I am taking something almost constantly!

Damn.  I was hoping there was an easy answer to that. :(

I wrote you on the other board about the cytomel dosing but now that I read this I have more information that might help.  First off, for your sanity of dosing you are best off taking your synthroid and cytomel together first thing in the morning.  I dont' see how you could possibly take thyroid medication 3 times per day and then calcium 3 times per day and have them all separated by atleast 2 hours.  Then put carafate into the mix and nothing will work. Carafate blocks the absorbtion of thyroid medications.  From what  my endocrinologist told me, it can't be taken within 6 hours of synthroid - I am not sure about cytomel (I wasn't on it at that time but I would think it would be the same thing)  What I did, I took my thyroid medication first thing and waited 6 hours to take my first dose of carafate and then took the carafate every 4 hours until I went to bed.  I usually only got in 3 doses but that was the best I could do.

Now that you have to add iron to the mix, you have to take the iron 1 hour after the carafate at bedtime. I know it is confusing but it is the only way we can absorb this stuff.
