What's Up With Doctors' Protocols - SO Much Variation

I'm having the DS done, and they already gave me a copy of the post op diet. I was told it was more of a guideline because different people heal differently, but that I want to be really gentle on my new stomach. That being said, they said they also have patients from all different WLS that start solids earlier than they recommend and some do great with them, others not so great, and others, who follow the guidelines to a T and have problems with the "new" foods (like ground food from a food processor), upsetting their stomach. When i leave the hospital, I was told I'll be eating SF Jello, broth, maybe sf pudding, but will be on mostly liquids. And then I'll start onto things like cottage cheese, yogurt, etc before adding ground meats after a few weeks.

As soon as I passed my leak test I was cleared to eat whatever I wanted. I stuck to things like cottage cheese, jello and re-fried beans but I was told by my surgeon that I could have anything I wanted. He doesn't do liquid diet, mushy etc. He wants you eating regular food as soon as possible.

You know, I was whining the other day about CPA's. In all these years, we have received 7 different ways to handle paying rent. Each CPA is positive that THIS way will get us thru an audit, should that happen, vs THAT way. Positive, certain.

And my buddy says, "and now you see how we fell about the different vites protocols with docs". Well, yeah. Since the vites protocol is not something I think about any more (except how crazy some of it is), it was brought home to me how insane it can make you to have certified experts each telling you something different.

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
