Flagyl drug interaction warning

Cross-posted on the DS board, but I wanted to make sure many of you see this:


I know many of you use flagyl (metronidazole) because of bacterial growth. I was on it for months due to the c. diff, but I didn't get rid of the c. diff until they switched me over to vancocin.

Anyway, Pfizer doesn't like to list certain drug interactions because, well, they want to make money. They suck. There have been cases of harmful drug interactions between flagyl and ibuprofen, and that is hardly reported. You can google it and stuff comes up.

This, however, is heartbreaking. I know Dr. Nichols, she's an amazing therapist (btw, very wls friendly for anyone in Jersey).  She lost her daughter due to an interaction between dilantin and flagyl.  http://ipgcounseling.blogspot.com/2010/10/pfizer-killed-my-kid-now-that-check-has.html

My daughter takes dilantin and has had to take flagyl. I will be sure to warn her! Thanks for passing this on!

that is the saddest thing I have ever read. thanks for getting the word out.

I was on flagyl for about 4 doses for H.pylori, It made me very sick, I was dry heeveing. I finally called my doctor today and had to be switched.

My dog was on that stuff and fainted each time she tried to stand up. That drug has a lot more side effects than most realize.

I think flagyl is an evil drug. I now list it as a drug allergy because I just end up throwing up endlessly with it.

I had to take it the night before surgery every 2 hours for several hours (can't remember why)......it made me so sick when I took it , I would throw up til the next dose.....finally just stopped, I have never been so sick in my LIFE!
