Skin tastes like rubbing alcohol
OK. don't laugh and don't think I've gone completely bonkers. . .
This just started in the past week or so. I noticed that when I licked my fingers after eating something, they tasted bitter -- like I had spilled rubbing alcohol on them. It's my hands, fingers and lips that I've noticed it so far. Even when eating something, it has an alcohol taste to it.
Has anyone heard of -- or experienced anything like -- this?? Is there any kind of high vitamin/supplement level that would explain it?? I just thought I'd throw it out and start with that before calling the doctor. But it's driving me completely insane!! I don't even enjoy eating at this point because everything tastes like rubbing alcohol.
Here's what I'm taking:
VitaLady Tender Vita-Min capsules -- 1 capsule twice a day
Calcium Citrate Maximum (with Magnesium) -- 2 caplets 3 times a day
Dry D3 -- 10,000 IU 5 days a week
Sublingual B12 -- 3000mcg 4 days a week
VitaLady Tender Iron -- 1 capsule 4 days a week
Prilosec OTC --2o mg. tablet daily
I'm at a loss. The only thing I've changed recently is going from the Centrum Silver to the VitaLady Vita-Mins for the extra Vitamin K that my rheumatologist recommended I take due to my Lupus. Could it be the higher Vitamin K causing this?
HELP!!

Nope. . . no hand sanitizers. I just tasted my forearms to check and it seems to start just below the crook of my elbow and gets worse the further down I go, with the worst being right at the fingertips. I haven't changed any of my bath/ kitchen or laundry soaps, so not sure what's going on. Just licking my lips tastes like I've soaked them in rubbing alcohol, which affects the way the food tastes now.
I have noticed that when I pee, it's started smelling strong too. So that's what made me think that maybe the vitamins/supplements might be causing it.
I guess I'll call the doctor tomorrow because this is driving me insane.

Im about to have my RNY in 3 wks so I read everything I can in order to better understand what I might need to know and expect. You all are really helpful.
But I had to chuckle at you tasting your forearm and other body parts for the alcohol taste.
Did anyone walk in while you were tasting yourself...lol. That would be so funny. Can you imagine what might go through their heads? lol
But I do wish you much luck in getting to the bottom of the issue. And thanks to all of you for being there with all your questions and concerns and also to those who share their opinions and answers.
What a gold mine full of great people! I've learned so much that I know wouldn't be anywhere else.
