For the Benefit of Pre-Ops: DSers, what are YOU eating today??
Jenna Lynn's post is giving me visions of sugarplums, but honestly, I'm already satisfied to my fingertips. I already posted this in the daily Bites n' Vites thread on the DS forum (a good place to hang out if you want a sample of DS life.) I'll repost it here, though:
B - Julie's almond pancakes with sugarfree syrup; bacon
S - Chococlate protein coffee
S - 2 pieces Ghirardelli peppermint bark
L - Many individual bites - shrimp ****tail, cheese, turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, green bean casserole sugar free cranberry sauce, apple pie, madeleine
D - 2 pieces American cheese
S - Costco protein shake
I still have lots of restriction, but very few intolerances. Result: I happily sampled everything for a sweet, savory, guiltless Thanksgiving. I love my DS!

Deep fried turkey w/ canned gravy (yeah, I'm lazy)
Stuffing (stovetop, but not a lot of it)
Creamed spinach (cream cheese, tons of shredded cheese, vinegar, spinach)
Homemade mashed potatoes made with butter and heavy cream
Homemade mac & cheese with a thick cream sauce and about 5 different cheeses
Pumpkin cheesecake with a nut crust (no sugar added, splenda only)
Since the DS malabsorbs protein, I made sure that just about everything I've eaten today is heavy in some form of protein. I didn't indulge overly in the macaroni and avoided cranberry jellied sauce (which is god's own gift to mankind, by the way) because I'm still in the early loss phase. Still, aside from the fact that I couldn't eat MUCH, I did not feel at all deprived this holiday!

Let's see....Going just from dinner, which was about 4:00, to now:
deviled eggs
turkey
dressing
LOTS of gravy
mac-n-cheese
a very fine fresh cranberry sauce
salad loaded with pistachios and poppyseed dressing
delightful roasted root veggies medley
a heavily buttered fresh baked roll
(All of the above amounted to one nice sized plate of food, plus the miscellaneous things I ate with my fingers)
turtle pie **** cream pie)
yummy cookies
wine
after dinner snack: another heavily buttered roll and 3-4 oz. of cheese
just finishing bedtime snack of turkey sandwich :-)

Ok so I'm a newbie....Day 8....and here's what I had that my soft food diet allowed...and maybe disallowed!
turkey
few bites of steamed cauliflower
few bites of steamed broccoli
few bites of sweet potatoes
teeny weenie slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream
Yes,....I got full quickly and probably ate too quickly but there was a lot of time between dinner and dessert so I sip, sip, sipped my water. I probably didn't drink enough today but got plenty of protein. I will bet that I'll step on the scale tomorrow and still have lost! Woo hoo...I'm loving this already!

Here's where it get's wierd:
2 Green chili burritos w/guacamole, sour cream & salsa
Collard Greens
Candied Yams w/marshmellows & walnuts
Peach Cobbler
A handful of chocolate covered peanuts
That's my Thanksgiving Day!

Bah...
It doesn't take a DSer to have really good food! I ate all day long today. I'll grant you, I ate sleeve portions but I ate all day long. Bean/chz burritos, paia, pea stuff with deep fried things (Spanish food, no idea what it was), salmon with this fantastic ... stuff and toast - it was more Spanish food, candy, watermelon, jicama, carne asada, the works.
Sleeves can eat every bit as well as DSers and not gain.
At goal for 3+ years.

Small yet thoroughly satisfying amounts (a couple of tablespoons) of:
turkey with gravy AND skin
stuffing with gravy
sweet potato casserole
cornbread
sliced avocados
gandules and rice
2 kinds of pumpkin cheesecake
pumpkin pie crunch
a few more chocolate truffles than I should have had
A few more glasses of "potent potables" than I should have had

None of this was sugar-free, low-fat, low carb, etc. While I didn't eat a LOT of any of it, it sufficient enough for me to say "ah, yum!" I was really satisfied and satiated, and didn't feel guilty about what I ate nor at all deprived.
PS: everything you listed sounds yummy. Can I come to t-day at your house next year?
