What happens if you eat solids too soon after VSG?
Your explanations are so fraught with errors it begs a response. The issue is not whether a piece of lettace can push a staple......the issue is eating anything before some primary healing has taken place and vomiting results....can result in a partial or entire staple line being disrupted. Torn newly healing tissue is a ***** to repair and the end result is a far less functional structure and permanent feeding problems. Susan

SusanI don't know about bypass but vomiting even for a newbie post op is not an issue for sleeves.
We will NOT rip a staple line from vomiting.

Actually if memory recalls, about 1-2 weeks out, I did have some mashed potatoes, sugar free jello, yogurt, applesuace, stuff like that. I misread and thought you meant solids. I think I also had some soup. But check with your medical people first.
For me, they basically approved me a level almost every 1-2 weeks. I'm 10 weeks or so out now and although I can eat about anything, it still takes forever, which you get used to.

Ohhhh, so your doctor did not approve of solids at one week. Yet you were suggesting she do it and you didn't get it when I dared to disagree with you?
Keep in mind, she is ONE week post op!

I like your answer the best, the rest are ******g insane. Seriously if you eat a cracker or something mushy nothing is going to happen, you are gonna be like a little kid hiding in the closet eating a cookie, chewing it a million times and swallowing then waiting to get caught or death. My god we are overly dramatic here.
Good Luck

I get it we are trying to scare her into believing a morsel of food might in fact kill her if she eats it too early. Why? Because if she doesn't conform now how on earth can she ever succeed. Really? Seriously? This is what we have resorted too, some b/s **** about your stomach healing from adhesions, wtf is that about, I have been here a long time and this really struck me as the weirdest series of answers to a question of someone wanting to chew something mushy and swallow. I don't recall her asking if she could have a Full size Big Mac meal. I hope the poster gets it, everyone wants to scare you straight and encourage you to eat exactly as your doctor says. I will give you the same exact advice, even if I didn't listen to it and am nearly 6 years out and weight 145lbs at 5'5, so I guess pretty successful.
Good Luck, I think it might be a full moon here today.

No, you are just wrong again and unable to admit it. As usual.
