Craving Macaroni and Cheese

If you want it, have it, just don't have alot of it and don't have it too often. I know Dreamfields pasta is lower carb and has some protein, maybe try making a homemade mac and cheese with some Dreamfields. Any cheese you use is good protein so I wouldn't worry about that.

Cauliflower "Mac" and Cheese Casserole - melting mama

Jun 11, 2009 ... I'm going to celebrate this, perhaps totally negating the health benefits, by smothering the cruciferous veggie in cheese. Cauliflower "Mac" ...

How about making it normally, measuring out an appropriate portion (1/4 or 1/3 c. maybe?), putting extra shredded cheese on it, running it under the broiler and enjoying in MODERATION?

Dreamfields isn't a given that it's lower in carbs. First of all you have to make it so it is not completely done. Al Dente.. or however it is spelled. Then you can't save it, if it sits with any cheese or sauce on it, it breaks down the coating the prevents you from absorbing the carbs.

And finally, if you test someone's blood sugar after they eat dreamfields it is NO different from someone who just ate real pasta. Maybe we absorb carbs, maybe we don't from Dreamfields but according to blood sugar studies, we absorb every carb just as in regular pasta. I hope it works, it tastes good but it's pretty expensive.

Read the directions on that stuff carefully.

Pastas are a no no especially when you choose to have them without protein.  Why not make it the way you normally enjoy it and go ahead and satisfy your craving for it? Depending on how well your pouch tolerates it, you will not be able to eat enough of it to ruin your now good eating habits. I am six months out and I can not tolerate more than 1/4 cup of brown rice. If I combine chopped turkey and small veggies, it makes a more enjoyable meal, even if I can only eat a small portion of it.

Mac and cheese is one of the things I miss, too.

I tried it at about 6 months' out and it just did NOT sit well in my pouch -- and it was just a couple of bites.

If you can tolerate the pasta, I'd say have the mac n cheese in moderation.  You may want a small serving for lunch and one for dinner, or one today and one tomorrow.  Give the rest of it away.  If you do a low-fat version, make it really good so that it's satisfying and that you enjoy it.  Otherwise, you'll be frustrated and your craving won't go away.  You may have to watch your calories, fat & carbs more closely for the rest of the day/week, which is OK.

If you can't tolerate pasta, I'd say just eat the cheese!  You can eat it with whatever works best for you--maybe veggies, or with meat?  The cheese is the best part!
