Major Milestone Achieved With Picture
Okay, not the end goal, but it was one I promised my grandmother (who is alive and well, travelling with mom in her motor home at present at the age of 81 btw). When her mom died I inherited 2 of her dance costumes, she was a ball room dancer. One will never fit, my rib cage is too wide, but tinkerbell... i haven't been able to fit in this dress since I was 12 years old. I promised Grandma I would, that it was my goal to wear her mother's dress again. Today it zipped, and I can't stop crying these happy tears. I loved my Great-Grandmother more than I can possibly explain, and when I was younger, she always let me dress up in her clothes and scarves when i came to visit. She'd let me put on fashion shows and she adored me. Wearing this dress has made me feel that joy and closeness that I haven't felt since I was a teenager when we lost her.
So here are the pictures, I can't wait to be Tinkerbell for Halloween this year! Now, if only I could dance...

7/18/10: 211lbs, 10/16/10: 174 lbs, 1/21/11: 146 lbs, 4/20/11: 131 lbs. Insulin FREE since 7/2010, "normal" BMI since 12/2010. I'm 31, 5'5", happily married, with a fabulous 3 year old boy, and hope to add to our family in the near future 
i texted a pic to mom who is with grandma, just got off the phone, they are very proud, can't wait til they get here in may to show them in person

When my DH and I started dating we discussed the possibility of taking ball room dancing together. He was all for it. My grandfather was a ballroom dancer and my great grandmother did it professionally. When we got together it was 4 months before I planned to see my grandfather for this and grandma's 60th wedding anniversary. I had hoped to take the lessons to surprise him with at the anniversary party.
We never took the lessons, I surprised my grandparents with the news they were getting a great grandchild from us instead.
Now money is tight, but maybe once it becomes less an issue I'll broach the subject with him again.
I wont get to show my grandfather, he died the night before my son was born, but it's still something I'd like to do, even if I have no rhythm... :)
