Major Milestone Achieved With Picture
Oh wow! I'm sure your grandparents were just as excited about becoming grreat grandparents. So sorry to hear your grandfather never got to see your child. Do you ever see your grandfather in your child? I've heard of that happening.
As for the dance, you may want to look into adult classes at community schools They are usually dirt cheap. My DH and I took a class at a local senior center (apparently you don't have to be a senior!) just before we got married. Unfortunately I still wasn't steady on my crushed knee so we stopped. Maybe soon we can take classes again.

eh, he was their 5th great grandson, they were hoping for a great granddaughter. my cousin finally obliged last summer.
well, let me tell you this, my grandfather was a larger than life gruff hispanic man with an opinion on everything and everyone. When he was in hospice he was yelling at Bush on CNN... seriously...
I take after my great grandmother (english/german) and my grandmother on my dad's side (hungarian) hence the pale whiteness of my quarter spanish gene pool. my husband is of similar coloring to me.
So imagine our surprise when our son came out looking like an angry mexican! that lasted for about 6 months, then he got paler and paler and his hair got blonder and blonder. Part of me wants to believe that he's been reincarnated into my son and i see it at times like when he swiped a glass of whiskey out of a friends hand and spilled it everywhere, and then greedily drank anything we said was whiskey. whiskey had been granddad's posion of choice before he gave it up 15 years before his death. but the bigger part of me, wants to believe he's out there somewhere waiting for my grandma. i had this dream that i was with him on the fringe of the world, walking and talking but like ghosts. We saw my grandma getting out of a car and then i saw her the way he must have went they met, and he said "just look at her". he seemed so happy just to watch her. that's all i remember of the dream, and it felt so real to me.
they were the happiest couple i've ever known, and I want to believe they will get to spend eternity together. don't tell anyone about my marshamllow interior
That is very good to know! one of my friends told me about a water aerobics class near her in the summer that is free to people with disabilities, and even though my diabetes is in remission, it still counts, so we might do that together. will definately look into the schools and centers for classes, but it's not top priority right now. DH just got a job, so we're working on just standing, dancing will come later :) but you should look into them for you and yours again! could be more fun than you remember, and easier now too!!

Sorry for the hijack but,
Are YOU a WRITER? I mean, you ARE, but have you considered doing it professionally?
You've got talent for sure. I got pulled into that story about your Abuelos very hard.
Perhaps because I'm 100% Mexicano and used to LOVE (I guess I still do) Cuba Libres (rum, coke and a twist of lime).
wow. Multi-talented.
ok, sorry to interrupt.

hijack away, it keeps me entertained :)
yes, i am, just unpublished because i am a slacker who is still learning its okay to finish things i enjoy and love because i'm worth it. hopefully i will get one story done this year. i like to write psychological romance, but a psychic once told me i should take my life's journey and write self-help books. she also told me to pursue my married ex, so I can't tell you how good she was, the ex has been out of my life for nearly 3 whole years now, the writing is always on my mind.
oh sure, rub your pure blood in my face, next you'll pick on me for being some spansh-hungarian mutt, wontcha? LOL. My grandfather was one of the most amazing men who ever lived adn i took his death very hard. its hard to not think about him constantly with my sons birthday being the day after this death.
he was drinking himself into an early grave, drink his whiskey straight and frequent. I'm pretty sure grandma was the one who got him to stop. they were a wacky couple. grandma can't bake with a certain bowl anymore, it's dented on one side from when she used to throw it at him (well, near him). my dad's parents were the quiet sure love kind of people, mom's parents were all fire and explosions, it was interesting growing up with both examples :)

Ha ha ha!
I LOVE it! Your response...all of it.
hm, let's take it sequentially:
I am totally learning the very same lesson (about publishing), I had a life-recontextualizing conversation with Elizabeth Gilbert in North Carolina a couple of years ago. I was on a deadline, darn it! I had no idea who she was, nor had I ever heard of her book, Eat Pray Love...I'll tell you about it later.
Pure Blood me? as a Mexican?
Never, my dear Mexi-hungary fairy. Mexicanos are the proud children of the 2 world powers of their time. Spain had the Armada Invensible in Europe, and the Aztecas ruled the Americas from the center. We are by definition Mestisos (mixed) so, I could never make a blood-claim purity of ANY kind. :-)
I'll defer (spelling very questionable since I need to jet) to Car Jung in the explantion of so called "alcoholism". It is for many, a quick avenue to the mystic world of the spiritual (as in religious experience). Everyone "knows" that alcohol is "distilled spirts" and yet, no one ever seems to pause and real-ize that. If you could be in God's presence by simply , oh say, eating a cheese cake, would you?
:-)
Simple, not easy.

you should definately tell me more on that :)
its kinda a joke in family, when we were growin gup, who looked the most spanish was the favored child, poor little white bred me! i was also the only kid witha round face. My family ended up in Mexico because an ancestor was the younger brother of a king. Said king in fear of being overthrown exiled his little brother to mexico and that's how my family got to this side of the atlantic. i come from a long line of almost kings, he is one. another is on my hungraina grandmother's side, Koppany, a nobleman in the 10th century, who was next in line to be king was also pagan. hungary became a christian nation when Istvan defeated my ancestor in battle and took the throne instead.
I am putting up some pictures of my granparents (mom's side) and my great grandmother in one of her costumes after winning a ball room dancing trophy, because i can

celedonio and carol garza, and grace peterman
granddad drank more to forget being the only survivor of his platoon in WWII than to connect with the divine, in my opinion. he was going to make an anniversary jump that year too but didn't make it (he was a paratrooper). i miss him a lot.
ehy, i don't know about you but in my religion we get cakes and ale after communing with the god and goddess, and the time before last we made chocolate cheesecake mini cupcakes (low carb of course) with mulled wine :)
