I hate waiting!!
Hello there! The timeline for approval/denial from the insurance companies varies. Although you could call today and ask politely "by any chance, do you have the results of my request for . . . .", But be prepared for the decision to take up to 30 days.
I know you're anxious, be patient; but if it'll make your weekend better - heck give 'em a call! I work in health insurance, and I've never felt bugged by people who are nice. Your enthusiasm is understandable. All the best to you!

The wait is SOOOOOOOO HARD! It took over two weeks to deny me. Then I was waiting for my appeal submission. I was told that it will take 30 days for a decision. Then on Monday, before appeal was submitted, I got the call saying they over turned their decision. So that made my day! I feel bad for everyone during their wait because it's all you think about! Try to occupy yourself until you get the response. I also called insurance daily! I'm just a pest :)
Ok, just calm down... I know what your going through, i was the same way waiting to hear from my insurance and i called like everyday at that (LOL) I think by calling them speeded the process up a little even though i had to jump through a few hoops before they approved me. I am sure and keeping my fingers crossed that you get your approval soon!

Two weeks is about average, but sometimes a month or six weeks. It depends on how often their board reviews surgery requests, how quickly people work, and sometimes personality comes into play.
If I have fifty requests on my desk that need approvals, sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease and sometimes the squeaky wheel is also the annoying wheel and that request stays at the bottom of the pile because the person is irritating and I just decide to make them wait longer.
If you do call, wait at least a week, be very, very polite and never call more than once a week.
