I had surgery Monday April 4th and i am home as of yesterday so I guess I am 3to4 days post-op, not sure how they count it. Anyways here is the problem: I have a LOT of gas bubbles (ouchy) in my stomach and what seems like my chest cavity!, only a few here in there will work there way out, and also VERY bloated, poochy tummy. I look 6 month pregnant and didn't before my lapricscopic surgery. Can anyone tell me if this is normal for just a few days post-op? I am walking...and and that helps a little, but then when I lay down at night the noisey rummbles begins. but I can not fathum that there is nothing on the market that can help this pain! or relieve this? I am not ready to be takin out back and be shot just yet but any helpful remedies..home or otherwise..plllllease!!! tell me..tell me...tell me...

I am not sure about your discomfort as my physician prescribed me an acid reducer before i was released from the hospital. call the doctor and see what they suggest. Good luck on your journey.

Yep, it sounds normal to me. Sorry, but it just has to work its way out. Keep on walking! Gax X helped me a little, but it should be better in the next day or so! Hang in there!

RNY on 02/24/11 with
I had my RNY surgery 2/24/11. So I'm a newbie also. But I can tell you I spent some time in a chair for comfort because of the gas and because I was a stomach sleeper and couln't get comfortable in bed. A nurse told me walking and sitting and rocking would help and it did! Movement is the best thing combined with gravity. Hope You feel better soon, Take Care. Debbie

My Doctor suggested Gax X also. I just met with him yesterday and my surgery is scheduled for April 28th. So excited, but nervous. Best of luck to you!

I am an RN on trauma/surgery ward and just 11 days out from my surgery.  We see a lot of lap patients.  Move your upper body around as well.  The gas lifts to the upper body and moving around will help to dissipate it.  Walking is also great for the lower abdomen gas.  Someone here recommended infant gas drops, I didn't try it because my gas went away quickly with the upper and lower movement, but maybe it could help you.
Hoping you feel better soon.

Hi, I had surgery the same day but was only in the hospital for 1 day.  I have a lot of gas bubbles, and my stomach is hugh right now!!  It is the gas from the surgery working it self out.  I am just walking and sipping right now and feel a lot better than day 1 anyway.   It will pass soon I hope!! Good luck with everything!!

as long as it just feels like gas, keep walking and try gas x strips.  It is normal, they fill your stomach with gas so they can get in there to do the surgery.
