More passport woes

I posted about this before. My girlfriend is supposed to be traveling with me to Mexico for my surgery but at the end of last month we recieved a form saying they needed further documentation to prove her identity. We did as they asked and sent it back overnight. They would have had it April 1st!

3 weeks to go (as of today) and still nothing. They have had her passport application since the end of February and only just told us about needing further documentation (even though she had sent in  the required documentation originally) at the end of March.

It's just getting even more frustrating that most reps she talks to when she calls to check the status have been less than helpful. Wondering if anyone else has been having issues getting the passcard too?

The normal processing time is 4-6 weeks...but this is now going on over 2 months that they have had her application and I am just scared she wont get it in time. I am going either way and not delaying but it will kind of start the trip out on a poopy note seeing as I cant get a refund for her plane ticket AND I'll be all by my lonesome :(

It does seem to take forever.  About all you can do is cross your fingers and hope it comes in time.  Good luck.

Contact your congressperson's office! They may be able to help speed up the process.

Absolutely contact your elected representative. They get special attention.

Contact the passport office and explain your situation. They may be able to tell you what is going on. Good Luck!

We  actually had been in contact with a state rep's office but hadn't heard from them so last night after I posted this we emailed him again...

I contacted the State Department for info on your passport. The passport has been processed and you should be receiving it within 10 day max. If you have any other questions please feel free to call me at the office.

needless to say I am thrilled !

There is an emergency, 24 hour number you can call for immediate processing. Google it....if you can prove your travel plans, they can overnight it to you. I know of 2 people who had theirs done like this.

 eeeep! Glad it's being resolved in time.  
The worries about passports my wife and I had have left me advising friends to get passports now, Need it or not, everyone should have a passport.....and 5000 dollars cash hidden.....and a motorcycle.....A really fast motorcycle.
