No need to tie yourself to the whipping post, then run around in circles to beat yourself. There are plenty who are green over your ability to express yourself.

As you can well imagine, I'm very much outside the "them" of our world. I also eat sammiches, don't count carbs (only sugars) and I think protein shakes replced smokes for a nervous habit. I've always taken tons more vites than others (except those with my own doc who kept up with the times) and I'm darned picky about what I take, tho not scared by how much or how many of them I take.

That's not a popular view with some docs whose view of supplements is, "I don't sell them, you don't need them" to sell their surgery. So, for a doc who does see the need does that mean, "I sell them so you need them"? Or "You need them so I sell them"?

So, while you are exiled, join me here with my ham sammich, and protein, and lil pile of vites. We do what we do. When next I see you, we will discuss your issues in more detail. Wasn't paying attn, I guess when last we met to at least run all thru the checklist of what they have ruled out.

Advocating for self, and others like self is dangerous work and keeps us on the outside looking in. In my case, some medical professionals will refer pts to me in a whisper, but not out loud, because I'm not "in", but they know I can fine tune the issue and will take the time to do so.

You are advocating for those who have pain? (it isn't real cuz they can't find it, right? I did put you on Grads, right? Where we've had to ask the doc, "so, i read this article on XXX and I read my op report (GASP!) and it's possible that this style inherently carried risk for XXX at 3 yrs. Is that me?" WE see an average of TWO years from first pain to surgery to fix a partial small bowel obstruction. While you might be preaching to the choir there, at least you'll be getting back a loud chorus of AMENS from those who went before you. Never go thru any of this alone. Never. There is always someone who already did it, got the t shirt and will send you one.

You're quite lovable, despite your rep as the big bad scary blogger.

See ya soon?

I am 3 months out and wasn't really aware that there is some kind of weight loss hierarchy, lol. I try to stick to the diet as much as I can while I am still losing but do stuff I'm not supposed to all the time, lol. I figure if i do it right most of the time, I'll be fine. People are so dam judgmental! Clearly you caused all your own health problems even though 1000's of other people have been doing the same thing and nothings wrong with them; people are so rude! I guess I'm bad too cause I ate a cup cake on Easter and I drink when I go out once a week, oh well, I'm 29 and single and I like to go out, besides what's the fun of losing weight if ya can't show it off  ?

That's the problem with a lot of people...only want sunshine & roses, when in reality, life stinks of you know what. I'm 3 months post op too. I can't put into words all I have learned from the "vets" who have gone before me...both good, and especially the bad. What better way to learn what not to do than by hearing what others have to say. But then again when we got free will installed in our psyche, so WE CHOOSE OUR OWN ACTIONS, can't blame others (I wish our polititians would remember this!)

"The fact that I discuss that I eat solid food, without counting calories, makes me 'negative' in this community, and the fact that I don't call myself a 'food addict' makes me a pariah.   To further this, the fact that I DARE! promote the indication that we, as grown women, eat. food. and not always liquid protein shakes or lean turkey breast, perhaps even bread?"

YOU GO GIRL!  I know I'm still early out at 1yr. and 8 months, but I didn't have this surgery so I could spend the rest of my life obsessed with food and counting every little calorie either! I eat REAL food, just in moderation now, which is what the surgery was supposed to help me do, and DOES! Win for me, and any of those who are aghast at that, can bite me! (unless that would be too many calories! ) You keep being who you are, and we'll keep listening!

 Thank you.

I think you realize how much less stress there is when you sort of 'let it go.'

MM,

I love your posts! And you are an advocate for yourself, just because you feel your not is not true. It may be the Dr.s themselves that aren't putting forth a bit more effort or not thinking outside the box. As you said your doing it now.

I agree that many freak out when you talk about eating FOOD. I'll be honest I'm really irritated with many DSrs on this point too. So many are living on protien shakes and using their "carbs" to eat. Hello regain, I'll see you in a couple years once I "forget" my shake and use carbs instead. Especially with the DS being the most lenient on food intake, damn it folks EAT YOUR NUTRITION! Shakes are a supplement NOT a means of true nutrition.

Guess what I'm with you, I EAT FOOD! But since I wasn't pushed to do protien shakes I learned to eat my meals and learned to eat right. And damn if my weight hasn't been stable (besides a regain that was eliminated when I got on meds for a hormone problem). Only time I choke down protien shakes is if I'm having a "I don't feel like eating" stint that lasts over a couple days. Yeah over 5.5 years post-op I still have thoes days. And I'll be damned I even allow myself 20-24 oz of Soda (no not that diet crap) a DAY! Its the learning of moderation. Thoes damned protien shakes do not teach that. The point of nearly all WLS is to learn moderation.

Keep on MM!!
