From the DUH Files: Study -Gastric bypass weight-loss surgery increases risk of alcoholism
It may not always be that way (that carbonation makes you uncomfortable).
I enjoy beer on occasion, usually when I'm out to dinner on Saturday night and especially if we are eating Mexican food. But I limit myself these days to one beer and always make hubby drive afterward, even if I don't feel intoxicated. I have a family history of alcohol abuse, so I am careful. And post op I get drunk much more quickly and don't suffer hangovers; so if others have the same experience, I can TOTALLY see why alcohol abuse is common.

I drink rum and coke every day. Am I an alcoholic? Probably. I'm sober right now because I just got home from work about 20 minutes ago and only have had two. ( I slam 'em after work.) I'll drink 'til I pass out about nineish or so.
I was in chat here and someone mentioned a drink and I thought how good a gin and tonic would be with a twist of lemon. So the next day I bought the makings. I was just going to have one or two but it felt so good to be relaxed I had more.
The next day I thought "What the heck, I might as well finish the bottle and I really don't want the lemons to go to waste. What about all that tonic, after all it will go flat.", so I had more. I was hooked.
Had to switch to rum though, because the gin gave me a horrible hangover ever day. Can't work well with a hangover.
If you haven't tried alcohol then don't, it might lead you to where I am today. Although I show up at work ever day and haven't called in in three and a half years, so I consider myself a "functioning alcoholic", it still ain't good. My liver is probably crying.
Edited to add it's diet caffeine free coke.
listen, I like you and - if I remember right - you have a husband who drinks. why not get help? I am thinking you might need your liver later!
once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

((((((Kaffy))))))
you know what? you have a therapist, why not go Whole Hog? (see I how I did that? fit a piggy in?) tell the therapist about the drinking, don't rule out stopping even if you aren't ready to yet.
dive in, what the hell.

One thing I know is that you have to reach a bottom to stop anything, It doesn't matter what anybody tell you and you know that it is not good for you, but until you hit your bottom it doesn't matter what any body say. My bottom may not be your bottom, so until you get tired of being sick and tired, you will continue, either you will said enough is enough or your body can stop and say enough is enough, I just hope you stop drinking before your body makes you stop.. take care
He does drink. We drink together. Why I don't get help is beyond me. I go to my therapist every three weeks and sit there talking and thinking that I should tell her about the booze but I never do.
Guess I haven't gotten to the point of wanting to quit yet.
Get some help, please.
