Very discouraged with my family doctor
Thank you all soooo much
... I think I will go to my surgeon the 23rd and confirm exactly what you all are saying. So I am going to let this slide as an ignorant PCP. She is very weird anyway when it comes to weight and the only reason I stick with her is becase shes been my PCP for yrs...ugh... LOL....
I found the formula for the EWL % and it says

I found the formula for the EWL % and it says
25% at 3 months 50% at 6 months, 75% at 9 months and 90-100% at a year
and I am at 30% at 6 weeks! So that made me feel better if anyone wants the formula to find your EWL it is
Start weight minus goal weight = excess weight
Start weight minus current weight= amount lost
Amount lost divided by excess weight= percentage of excess weight lost
My PCP is the bomb. She has had WLS herself and so my blood work is ordered correctly and we share info we both find. I was the first of 5 of her patients to have the surgery and she's been an awesome mentor.
She's been inspired by me to get back on her plan after she'd gained back 30 pounds. She lost it and we shared workout info. It's been such a positive and affirming experience with her as my PCP. If you are happy with this one, call her and talk to her about what was said and provide her with the forumula so she can see that you're doing phenomenally well. You can educate her or find a new doctor, your choice. If you do want to find a new one, interview them. Talk to them about what they know about WLS and aftercare. If they don't know much are they willing to learn? These are important things because you will be dealing with your different anatomy for the rest of your life.

Give yourself the biggest round of applause! You have lost 13.5% of you body weight in just 6 weeks!

Don't let anybody, no matter who they are, get you down like that. We all have highs and lows on this journey. Chalk this one up to ignorance on the part of your PCP. Take your time and listen to your WLS surgeon he knows best!
Take care.

I'm with JanineP... How much did that silly woman expect????????? At 6 weeks you would hit goal and now start maintenance??? Good grief!
I think your progress is great, girl! To me it really shows that you are working this the right way.
I hope your surgeon pins her hears back for her.
I absolutely hate that she rained on your parade! Some people are educated idiots.

Your pcp is clueless about WLS. You've lost nearly a pound for every day since surgery! I don't know if there are any of us here that could do that before WLS, and many of us didn't after WLS. Good grief, you'd have to have a leg amputated or something to have lost much more than that in such a short time.
If you insist on continuing to use that douchbag of a pcp, just remember her ignorance about WLS, and when she gives other advice about it, like supplementation, or lab values, know you need to be self educated in some of those things to stay healthy. Most DSers I know make sure they know which labs are necessary to have drawn, and are on top of it when the doc misses something, and they do the same for supplementation, and following the lab values (many of us have our own spreadsheets to follow the values, in case things are trending some direction, but technically still in range).
I wouldn't blindly trust the advice of a good pcp, and I wouldn't trust yours AT ALL.

You need to call her and tell her she's a stupid *****
I'm sorry but your PCP is an ASSHOLE!!
Maybe it's time to look for a PCP that is less phobic about obese patients? Your doing great. Don't let that negative stuff hurt you. You just keep working at it and watch the weight come off. And if you ever have questions, Come on back to the OH anytime you need to ask people who know how this works because that PCP surely does NOT!... Craig
