DONT LIKE IT DONT READ IT
Hi MommaJoy,
I hope this message brings you good spirits. I went through this entire posts and noticed that everytime someone posts something similiar to yours, the same mean a** people always respond - you should read earlier posts, have a thicker skin, etc. Then they jump on someone who types in all CAPS saying its rude, but tell you to have a thicker skin. Hmmm.....anyways!
If you have a question and you want an answer, post it. If its the wrong information, I am sure someone will correct you hopefully in a respectful manner. If not, say something positive to yourself about how you look or how your feeling. Trust me, there are alot of mean people in this world and that's only because they haven't been confronted or are at odds with some type of inner turmoil. Keep your spirits positive and hopefully it will rub off.
Good luck with your journey! :)

I asked the one lady to not type in all caps and to use paragraphs in a respectful manner, and now she is being a mean ass butt wipe.
You implying I'm a mean ass person ?

Well, I read her posts and she is right. She has every right to type in all caps, like you had every right to have lap band surgery, where most people on OH would say lap band is a major failure. I know you may consider my opinion wrong, but it's not mean and rude. My advice, next time someone types in all caps, just dont read it. Im sure people have said rude and mean things not in caps - am I right? But to each is their own, so lets respect people for who they are and the knowledge that they come to this board with. If it wasnt for this board, I would have had the wrong surgery! I think it's great we have this community platform to voice our opinions, but their is just too much drama on this site especially regardings CAPS and mean posts. Come on now. We have better things to worry about than that. As far as being a mean a** person....hmmmm. Too many times have I seen the same exact people responding with mean a** comments, especially Elizabeth with the black cat as her avatar, telling people to have a thick skin, etc., but now I know why after looking at her profile! Yes, that was mean but rightfully so.

As for comparing typing in all caps to chosing your surgery...that doesn't even compute. Different things all together.
She's (the OP) has forgotten two rules here, she started it all by yelling and being rude by typing in all caps and she assumed that she had the right to control *****sponds. Asking people to not respond is like waving a red flag in front of a bull...you may as well put on your asbestos panties and get ready to be a BIG girl...cause you are gonna get it.

Common rules for e-mail[7] and USENET such as avoiding flamewars and spam are constant across most mediums and communities. Another rule is to avoid typing in all caps or grossly enlarging script for emphasis, which is considered to be the equivalent of shouting or yelling. Other commonly shared points, such as remembering that one's posts are (or can easily be made) public, are generally intuitively understood by publishers of Web pages and posters to USENET, although this rule is somewhat flexible depending on the environment. On more private protocols, however, such as e-mail and SMS, some users take the privacy of their posts for granted. One-on-one communications, such as private messages on chat forums and direct SMSs, may be considered more private than other such protocols, but infamous breaches surround even these relatively private media. For example, Paris Hilton's Sidekick PDA was cracked in 2005, resulting in the publication of her private photos, SMS history, address book, etc.[8]

Who cares about internet rules when most don't write in complete sentences, use proper grammar and write lingo that you can't use on AP English paper. For christ sake, read the context of the words and not the actual font size of the words. Trust me I've said mean and spiteful things without the use of caps and I'm sure you have too. I'll read a post that's in all caps anyday. It just doesn't bother. And if someone responds to you with a rude comment, just block them or respond however it may satisfy you.
Comparing surgery types to caps? Hmmm....I was merely stating on why we should use this board and much this board has helped me. It's not for brickering and belitting people over proper internet language and font or telling people to quit reposting stuff. I've seen many horrible posts on this site and this was the first time I decided to step in and say something.
You're right, you can't control *****sponds but typically its the same rude a** people making all the crazy comments. The rude a** comment wasnt for pumpkin, it was for the other ones who always have to post "grow a thick skin" and they know who they are.
Asking someone to change their font size or typeface is annoying. I've been on plenty of profile pages where I can barely read the page. I still read it and I wouldn't dare send them email telling them to change it. To each is their own and im not the FONT SIZE or TYPEFACE POLICE. If anything, pumpkin should refrain from asking people to change something when in fact she has no control over it.
Last, if people want to post stuff that's been posted before, then by all means do so. What if our doctors did the same thing and told you to ask another patient because they have already answered that question? How would you feel?
FYI: Net and etiquette (Netiquette) is an oxymoron - no one follows the "rules". Wikipedia is not a reliable source since anyone can go in a change a page. I can go to the page right now and change that all caps is acceptable.

Use mixed case. UPPER CASE LOOKS AS IF YOU'RE SHOUTING.

2.0 One-to-One Communication (electronic mail, talk)
We define one-to-one communications as those in which a person is communicating with another person as if face-to-face: a dialog. In general, rules of common courtesy for interaction with people should be in force for any situation and on the Internet it's doubly important where, for example, body language and tone of voice must be inferred. For more information on Netiquette for communicating via electronic mail and talk, check references [1,23,25,27] in the Selected Bibliography. So even tho my original was wikipedia, it came from other *uneditable* sources.
The OP started this thread in a rude manner...is it any wonder she got nothing but the same back?
