Help deciding which surgery to have

You're going to LOVE your sleeve. They remove the greater curvature, leaving the lesser curvature, the part that's less likely to stretch out if you abuse your sleeve. Ghrelin is gone and so is your hunger. I have a fully-functioning digestive system. I just can't eat much. It's just what I needed.

Loving life these days!

When I first considered WLS, my husband was completely against any surgery but the band.  He was concerned by the permanence of the changes particularly those with RNY.  I both value his opinion and I am sensitive to his concerns.   I, on the other hand,  was't sure about the band, and I actually took a year to finally decide what to do after carefully researching different options, insurance, etc.  I told my husband what I was going to do, and why.  He wasn't happy, but he knows me well enough that he wasn't going to change my mind.

I chose VSG (self pay), and so far I couldn't be happier with that choice. I started with a BMI over 50, and I could have gone with DS -- I never seriously considered RNY.  Why VSG over DS?  I felt in my personal case I didn't need or want the malabsorptive component.  My metabolic issues and weight swings are related to an autoimmune disease and medications rather than insulin resistance, diabetes, etc.

Use your 90 days well.  Do your home work, exercise and lose weight if it won't effect your elibigility for surgery, and make your decision when you are ready.
