OT: flying a pet
She should look at using a cat carrier as her carry-on item....check with the airlines to see what their requirements are....
OT, but hopefully interesting.... last summer my developmentally delayed adult daughter and I traveled to Kentucky for vacation. We had to change planes in Phoenix going into Louisville. As we were in the early boarding line, she immediately spotted a woman traveling with a man in a wheelchair that had a little dog in a carry-on carrier. My daughter LOVES dogs and of course got excited when she saw this one. The woman was very kind and let her look and oogle over the dog. We visited for a bit and boarded the plane.....long story short....the man in the wheelchair was Muhammad Ali !!! Daughter was in heaven over the little dog...I was thrilled to meet The Champ!!!
Hope things work out for your sister....

what a great story! How long did it take you to recognize the man? How is he doing? Poor man. His sport was not kind to his body.

I had a dog shipped from Alabama to Texas but the airline was very particular about the temperature outside. The cost was about $250.00 total. The dog did great but it was early May.
A cat would be much more comfortable traveling with the owner in a crate that fits under the seat. American makes some soft crates just for that purpose you can purchase at PetSmart or PetCo.

He is awesome. We got him a little wading pool and he loves to just dig/splash the water around. As I said before, he is 15 pounds, twice as big as his daddy I think. He is the giant yorkie from Alabama! Of Course, he could be that big because he is being raised in Texas.
Anyway, he is a funny happy dog who just talks and talks to us and loves to be brushed. If I say "Beauty Shop" he jumps on my lap and I brush is hair. Too funny.

Try these people. May not work but may be able to send you to someone else who can help. They are private pilots who volunteer to fly rescues and sometimes pets. do an unline search with goggle for other services that are simular. pilotsnpaws.org/
Delta, and probably any airline, will ship an animal as cargo. I'd strongly urge your sister to ship her cat on a non-stop flight. NON-STOP. Because of the danger of over-heating they'll have temperature limits. Check with the airline to see what their requirements are. Ask about sedating the cat. And send the cat on a son-stop flight. Non-stop. You do NOT want a connecting flight.
