I didn't mean to get ya upset or anything, Stacey.  There were a lot of things that made me gain.  But, diet Coke, whether it made me gain or not, it kept me from losing.   And, that is just as bad for me.  I can't stand the taste of it now.
All the diet stuff I was using thinking it would help me to lose, was not helping, in reality it was doing it's part to keep me fat.

I can only go by my personaly experience.  Here's to losing!

I still drink diet soda, but they are a trigger for me. I have to be careful because my fat girl in my head wants pizza and popcorn and chips when I drink it so I need to keep her in check!!

Also when I drink it I CRAVE carbs - which is probably due to the blood sugar issues when I drink it.

I drink it anyway but I am mindful (or try to be) when I crave things afterwards.

I'm with ya Beth.
We need fat.
In the immediate post op period, when my fat intake was zilch, I saw change in my skin (got dry and flaky) and my hair lost its luster.

As soon as I could comfortably do so, I incorporated fat back in to my diet.
I eat avocado as often as possible. Nuts too!
I like butter, regular cheese and regular salad dressings.
I monitor my amounts carefully and always stay on track with calories.
But I am willing to cut in other places in order to keep the fat.

My hair is shiny and full. My skin has never looked better.

Plus...lf I may be frank...my GI tract is much much happier.

Our bodies are smart. When we start putting these fake foods into them, they aren't fooled and fight back.

My current diet is about 1/3 fat, 1/3 protein and 1/3 carbs. It varies, of course, but I get a lot more fat that traditional medical experts recommend and my cholesterol numbers are AWESOME. Plus I'm maintaining my weight just fine.

Full fat eater here too. Pass the butter, mayo, salad dressing and full fat cheese, oh and bacon yummy.

If I had to eat fat free cheese, cheese would never enter my mouth. Gawd that stuff is disgusting.

Fat free cheese!  Oh, that stuff is so nasty.  What a waste of calories.

Oh, and by the way... you look very nice in your avatar picture.  If that is the result of eatin' real food, then save me a place at your table, Pleasey-please???

Exactly, Cajungirl!!!

I have real cheese nearly everyday as a mid-afternoon snack.

Margarine, low-fat or lite versions of mayo, salad dressing, etc are also not for me or my Hubby.  The real thing or bust!

I also LOVE avocado, all full of good fat too.  I get many complements on my skin and I believe those fats are contributors.

Definitely agree with you Beth! I never gave up my fats and my hair and skin are still nice, not to mention I don't have bm issues. It didn't stop me from losing weight either.

As for those low fat chips.. as a self admitted chip-aholic.. those things are just... wrong! LOL

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
