I found a house and the deal closed really quicly. I need to get my house on the market while it's summer.

I haven't moved in 20 years. There has to be some tips to make packing and moving go faster!!
I've just been throwing things in boxes and piling them up in the new garage. I need to get his house
emptied out fast so I can call a realtor.

Is there anyone who has moved a lot and found what makes the whole thing go smoother or easier?

I need help!

You bought a house before you sold your house?  Wish I could do that.  I have a house for sale and am living in an aparment where I want to live but am probably going to have to move back to my house where I don't want to live because it doesn't look like it is going to sell.

Moving blows no matter how you do it.  The only advice I have is try to toss/donate as much as possible instead of packing it and taking it.

And also remember that empty houses do not show as well as sparsley/nicely furnished ones do.  I left my house lightly furnished.  A totally empty house never looks as nice as a staged one.

Make you place a stereo, cleaning supplies, extension cord coffee maker (if you like that sort of thing) in a big red easy to ID box.  Keep boxes labeled with what room you pulled the stuff out of- Bedroom, bathroom etc.  It will make setting up camp in the new place easier!

Be methodical in your packing. Make every inch count in your boxes. Make a list of things you need to do...rent a u-haul, call utility companies, change of address at USPS, ask for help from friends, co-workers, family, etc... Do it one step at a time, moving is exciting and stressful, make sure you take care of youself in the process.

Yes, I bought a house before mine is sold. I've lived here 20 years so I need to spiff it up to get it on the market. I hope I can get that done fast.

I am so overwhelmed. Every room is all torn up and stuff is scattered everywhere. The idea of this house being shown seems impossible.

consider hiring a company to do all the packing.  that's the easiest!    good luck, moving is stressful even so.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I have to pack and throw things away or set in the donate pile. I don't think anyone can do that for me

I guess all the stuff all over the floor and counters will go in boxes marked misc. junk!

yes, Misc - you can have everything moved and sort it at your new place if you don't have time to sort now.

moving sucks but hopefully you are going somewhere nice?!?

Guess what I do for a living.  You didn't say if you bought firm/ or is contingent on this one selling.  No matter, the advice is the same.  You want it sold, you want it sold now, and you want a good price for it.  Sooooo....  :)

Ok practical stuff .... get rid of the junk.  Pack the stuff you want.... Did I mention... get rid of the junk??? :)

Rent one of those pods and put everything you possibly can in it and then take it OFF site.  You don't want to load up the garage/driveway etc of the place you are trying to sell - it still makes the house look like it doesn't have enough storage.

Then consider getting in a professional painter and a staging company and hire an agent who prices the place ON the money... don't gamble with paying for 2 houses.

Pick your surgery first, then your surgeon. Not the other way around.
PS:... Potato chips should be a food group.

I'm tired of screwing with that damn health widget.
I've lost 125 pounds to date!!!!
   And I'm UNDER 190 now!!!

No, it's not contingent on this house being sold.

I wish there was a staging company here in the middle of nowhere!  I have some friends that are pretty good at it, so once I get my cr@p out of here, we'll have to make it look as good as possible. It's getting my cr@p out of here that I seem to be having trouble doing,  but I have called in for reinforcements and getting a dumpster, so I am hoping to get things moving along here.
