I'm sorry. I don't drink but have had other problems. I have been in the hospital on the phych floor 3 times in 6 years. I am not ashamed to ask for help. It was kinda fun in there. I met people like me. Please go some where and get some help. Your liver is more important right now than weight. Get your mind clear and then work on the weight. Good luck. Proud of you for posting this. This was a big step.

LIfe is hard. Sometimes we lose our way...getting back on track is difficult, but it can be done. I love the honest y of both of the posts in this thread. Wishing you both peace, healing and a swift journey back to the path that you want to be on. You deserve a beautiful life! Don't give up.
***hugs*** You are not alone.
Yes hon, you're sick. You can get well.
First things first: You gotta get the drug out of your system. Some people do this cold turkey, others need detox. PLEASE talk to your doc about this and get help.
Then: Why are you doing this? Tough question to answer, will take a long time to figure out. I highly recommend therapy. Go NOW. Don't wait. And don't go to someone who's into the "recovery movement." It's a cult IMNSHO.
I will tell you in plain English: I am opposed to twelve step and similar programs. The mental and medical health worlds have long known they don't work. Yeah, you might get sober, but you'll be "working the program" as your replacement addiction. Hey, if it;'s what you wanna do, go for it. But there are other, better ways to get there. Again, I highly recommend therapy. The point is to get to the root of what's eating you. What are you self medicating? Why are you numbing yourself? Get rid of the pain and the vast majority of the urge to self medicate goes away.

Try AA go to WWW.aa.org to find a meeting. AA works but only if you want to get clean. My fiance is a recovering addict and the programs worked for him and many of his friends from it. The key is you have to want it. If you have more queestions or want to go a little more in depth feel free to message me.
Heather...there is a Transfer Addictions board here at OH that you should check out.

Seek the help you need. We have to be pro-active in our (overall) health. NO ONE else is going to care about our own health, much less do anything about it, other than ourselves.
You can do it! Best wishes to you.

Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels!

Heather: I pretty much echo what most of the replies to your post here are - Just wanted you to know you/also Amy are in my prayers - I do believe they help us, too among other things.. You took a big first step by admitting you have a problem. Take it one step at a time, day by day if you have to. Just try and get some sort of help Counseling /AA/forums, meditation whatever you think may work for you. Best of luck to you and thank you for your honest post - it took courage to post it. (Amy, too.)
