Pinched Nerves
Hi folks, just looking to see if others experienced something similiar...
Immediately after surgery (when I woke up) I was unable to move my left arm/hand except at the shoulder joint. The arm felt numb and tingly all the way down, the surgen said I had most likely pinched nerves from being on the op table. My right arm had movement but felt numb still.
The surgeons advice was to let it heal naturally, it's going to take a while...
1 week later, my right arm was 99% normal. My left arm had recovered it's mobility but I still had the numbness/tingling.
By the 2nd week, I started getting agonizing pain on the back of my hand and 3 fingers. It feels like I have a sunburn and someone is rubbing it. This pain is felt whenever I touch the hand or finger tips, this mostly bothers me at night when I'm trying to sleep... just resting my hand on the bed causes pain.
Told my surgeon and he looked at it again, said it's all part of the healing process, 4 weeks out now and nothing has improved... finally I have an appointment with a neurologist but that's not for 2 more weeks.
Has anyone else had to cope with this? I know its not related to the RNY I had, just to being on the op table in a "bad" position for so long.
any advice for the pain would be appreciated :)
Rich
