Don't want WLS

Ok so I'm approved for gastric bypass but now I'm feeling like I don't want it.  Did this happen to anyone else?  I figure I should just try myself.  I want VSG but my insurance won't pay...I'd have to fight to get it...it's only a remote possibility.

Don't do it if your heart isn't in it.

If you want VSG, you should make that happen.

If you have the gastric bypass and you're feeling less than good about it, you're going to have problems.

I'm sorry that your insurance has put you in this tough spot.

I'd fight, though, if I were you. (And actually, that IS what I'm doing currently, so I know how you feel, I think.)

Good luck to you.

IMHO? Insist on getting the surgery YOU want.

Definitely don't get a surgery that you're not feeling.

If you know what surgery IS right for you, it's worth fighting for.

This is a question only you can answer.  Can you afford to pay for the VSG?  I was only covered
for the RNY, but I think I would have liked to have had the same choice.  Unfortunately, I didn't.  I
am very happy with my WLS, but that's just me.

Explore your options.

Good luck!

I started this process twice and backed out.. I was in late 20's now In my mid thirty's I'm 100 percent ready and have started the process again.. I'm no longer scared but excited. I realize i cant do this on my own and need this in order to live.  I regret not doing it in my 20's but i wasn't ready.... I guess for me also... ive started thinking if i could have done this on my own , i would have by now.
If you truly unsure maybe you could take a few months and try it on your own first? Best of luck to you on whatever you decide. Hugs-

I would NEVER get a surgery just bc insurance paid for it. Its your body, its the only one you get.

I think the way you are feeling is totally normal, it's like getting cold feet.

Sometimes I even rethink my decision now!  LOL  that's bad!

But, if you want a surgery that your insurance won't pay for then you have to stop and really think if you want the one they will pay for.  It happened to me.  I wanted the VSG and only could get the bypass.  It worked out well in the end.  But you have to really want it for yourself.

Good luck whatever way you go!
