Maggie - have you talked with the doctor about your extreme sleepiness after eating?  It sounds as though you may have reactive hypoglycemia.  I have it in spades.  I'm just asking, because if your blood sugar dips too low, it could cause some serious health issues, including coma and death.  You might want to check with your doc and see if you should be taking your blood sugar readings, particularly after you eat.
