Earthquake? Who felt it?
I was checking the path of Irene when the earth began to move under my chair. I jumped up to go out into the hallway and the second tremor hit. That was a big scary one. I was standing in the archway of my office door. I held on for dear life. I knew it was an earthquake by then because I got dizzy.
We all evacuated. Stood around outside for about an hr. until the told us we could go back into the builder or leave if we had our car in the garage. I got in my car and headed home.
I couldn't get through to anyone, but was able to text my husband and then finally a call went through. Most people had never even experience an Equake. I had before, but not one that actually shook the building.
We have lots of CA people there so that was mild for them. It was a 5.9 centered about 80 miles west of here, right next to a nuclear reactor plant. Biggest one we have had here ever I think.
I haven't felt any after shocks, but folks closer the the center have. I literally was all shook up!!!

Welcome to what us Californian's get all the time. The fear and shock will go away but you will remember it for a long time, Heard it was 5.9, we here in California consider that one a baby. LOL Try 7.1 from the San Francisco one in 89. That one was a doozy. Just be prepared for aftershocks, most are smaller that the orignial but they always tell us here it could be a prequel. We are always thinking that Nevada will be beach front proerty some day when the San Andreas Fault lets loose. Think the triangle of life., don't stand in a doorway or under a table, be next to a couch or something sturdy not underneath.

Felt it in the big apple, at first I thought it was my migraine messing with me. Then I noticed the floor lamp was wobblin'. Asked my co-workers if they felt it too, to make sure it wasn't me, YUP. They were a little freaked out, but we had a baby quake in the 80's that shook things up a little but didn't cause major damage.
Two second later the hubs calls me and I answerd the phone with "So I'm guessing you felt it, too?"

I'm in SW Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh and we felt it here all over. We're on the top two floors of our bldg and my desk was sliding and my chair with me on it was sliding back and forth on the chair floor pad. It was freaky, seemed to go on for a bit when in reality you know it wasn't long, such an eerie feeling. Others in the
office saw the blinds sway, and liquids in their cups moving.
