Yeah... exactly my point.
These shows want "sound bites", short, little statements resulting in a lack of comprehensive info being conveyed to the public.
When I did the Susan Powter Show, I met with the director/producer and explained if they really wanted to do a quality show on this topic, some changes would need to be made to the format.
Because I had a previous career in film/TV production, they listened and I let them display an address so people could write me with their questions and boy, did they... I ended up with writer's cramp.
What the public doesn't know is that it's not always just the host controlling show content. Producers, directors, sponsors, time constraints and even political concerns may play a part. A show like Dr. Oz employs hundreds of people and operates somewhat like a corporation.
This is also why people appearing as guests on these shows need to be very careful about how they will be portrayed. Doc Phil and his recent, rotten interview with that overweight woman is a prime example. I'm sure she didn't sign a release to be shamed on national TV...
