Aother lab question

I have been obsessing over my lab results, researching all the tests and values, even the ones in range.. And I still have a question..

Every single test (this has been 6 times in three years) my total protein is good (it has trended up from 6.5 to 8 over the years), and my albumen is good (steady at 4.7)..

But.. My prealbumen is consistently slightly low.. Like 18-19.7 over the tests. My dr says more protein, but my other protein number seem great to me, and I am not sure why the one number has been consistently low over three years no matter my diet. There has been tests where I was prob regularly getting 60g of protein a day, and tests where I was getting 120g a day.. Yet always slightly low..

Any ideas?

I know that the total protein is the long term, albumen is medium term, and prealbumen is the short term storage values.. So overall, big picture it looks like my nutrition in terms of protein is good.. Yet my short term values are constantly low.

I read somewhere that prealbumen levels are really important markers though, more important that albumen levels.. And I have no idea why.

If you are taking oral contraception you will show a "false" reading of low prealbumen ...

That's interesting info.. Thank you. I don't use contraceptives, but I am thinking it is probably something other than ny protein intake skewing the numbers...
