I haven't posted in awhile because I've not had much to say.  I don't really have much to say right now either but I can certainly clear a room in minutes with my horrible constant gas!

I've been having this issue for about six months now.  I remember going to group (in the first year or so) and wondering what the heck they were all talking about with the gas problem.  I did not have a problem with gas at all... at that time!   Now it's terrible!   I've tried experimenting with eliminating certain foods.  I do notice that carbs and other "bad" foods tend to make it worse.  But there has to be a healthy balance because I cannot just eat protein only... we need some carbs.  I'm not talking about eating a bag of chips or a plate of mashed potatoes but I'm talking about some nuts here and there, some fruits, etc.  I gave up on eliminating foods and tried Gas X which has been COMPLETELY useless!   I've tried probiotics and that doesn't do anything either.  I emailed my Dr. and she recommended using other simethicone products and/or Chlorophyll.  Today I'm on my first dose of Chlorophyll and no results so far.

Anyone else have any tricks up their sleeves?   I work in close proximity to my co-workers.  They have been pretty understanding but I'm sure they are tired of it!   Even my St. Bernard looks at me funny when I'm in full TOOT mode!

Thank God I have a loving understanding boyfriend who loves me smell and all.   I call my self the Gas Station!

I eliminated sugar alcohols and that took care of the problem for me.  I use Splenda, Whey Low, or real sugar to sweeten foods.  I also got rid of Celebrate chewable vitamins which are loaded with sugar alcohol.  I only use lactose free milk and ice creams.  A few weeks ago I decided to try two Celebrate vitamins and had gas for many hours after chewing them.

Hi There!
Here's a product I have had personal experience with. I don't sell it and I don't have stock in the company, I just know it works............at least for me.

Sugar alcohols give me gas. I was eating lots of SF popscilces and the gas was unbelievable. I'm using Gas X and Devrom although I'm not sure the Gas X works. I know my gas is a lot less when I don't eat too many things with the sugar alcohol in it.

Devrom is a product that works internally to help eliminate gas and it's odor.  Ozium offers a purse sized spray to "mask" the odor of gas. I know my wife carried a purse sized bottle of the standard Ozium for years after her initial gastric surgery in 1980. Her description of the gas was "it could peel wallpaper", and that was a pretty good descritption.  Here is an odd suggestion. I used to kid fellow students in high school and college about gas. I used to tell them to get some Odor Eaters (she inserts to eliminate foot odor) and put them in their underwear.  Might be worth a try.  I rarely have gas, but I do realize that gas and stool odors are issues for many post ops. I use a product called Just A Drop for smelly stool. A couple of drops in the bowl, and it places an odor sealing film on top of the bowl water. Works pretty well too. Oziuim is typically available at auto part stores.  Once you found out it works, you can go to Ebay or Amazon and get it cheaper in multiple can purchases. It comes in 3-4 sizes for purse, car, or home usage.  This works well in coed bathroom situations in small work places. Hope this helps some. DAVE

I use this.    It changed my life.
Buy it in bulk from the manufacturer and it's cheaper than buying it at the pharmacy.

I can understand your fustration.  When that happens to me ,  my family will call me Pumba from "The Lion King" or remind me of the campfire scene in the movie "Blazing Saddles."  I just cut out all the gassy food Like mushrooms, broccoli, onions etc.  If I have a receipe that call for them,  I will use them sparingly.

thanks for this thread.  I am off to get the Devrom - to save both my relationship and my co-workers from this issue!  I swear I was never this way before the sleeve -

GasX is not for smell - just to eliminate gas bubbles in the stomach/gut.

It's too bad we can't run our cars off what we are producing ...think of the savings.  Why I would pay off my surgery costs in no time!
