What can I take for allergies?

My allergies started acting up Friday night for some reason and have been relentless ever since.  I'm scared to take just anything since we're restricted from taking certain medications due to having RnY.  Can someone recommend an allergy medication that is safe for me to take?  Thanks!

as long as it doesn't have aspirin you can take pretty much any of the otc allergy meds.  anything with Tylenol in the name should be fine. All of the BENADRYL® products are aspirin-free.

I take prescription allergy medicine along with otc allergy meds.  I take Veramyst daily (nasal inhale) and then when I have a bad bad day, I take liquid benadryl.  Fair warning, I react different to benadryl after surgery, it wires me out and makes my itchy and restless, so don't take it before bedtime and expect to sleep.  It used to knock me right out, but now? I'm bouncing off the walls.  So just prepare for a different reaction, it may or may not occur for you.   I also take chewable Zyrtec (the walmart brand) with no issues as well.

I've taekn every OTC allergy med out there and not had any side effects as far as the WLS.  Some made me tired and I wasnt' okay with that.

I take Claritin (the generic Walmart one) and it works fine and I dont' get tired ever.

There are very few allergy meds that combine with an NSAID.  When in doubt, ask the pharmacist.  That is what they are there for!

Also, get a list of no no meds from your surgeon so the next tine you are sick, have allergies, etc. you can take a quick peek and know what meds you can take for the symptoms.
