I think they mixing up what gets paid for at MTF's and claiming its all Tricare, but Tricare does not even cover VSG but i had my vsg at a MTF.

In the Tv program that kiro 7 covered, it was all being lumped together...

I had my Rouy N Y at a private hospital but the MTF near me was doing training with my surgeon at the time to learn how to do them.  I do belive they did some at one time, but surgeons transfer all the time and the new ones coming in don't always know how to the surgery, don't have the time to learn, no funding to do the training, etc.

I lived outside the service area and had Tricare Prime Remote but I could go to the MTF for treatment and I had my PCM there but saw the original surgeon for follow up.  I think the watch dogs are confused.

Ditto ! ! ! Tricare has very little to nothing to do with services/surgeries provided at MTFs considering those surgeons/nurses/staff are all paid by DOD or DFAS.

They've been trying to strip benefits and covered services for years. The "watchdog" groups aren't going to make head way on this one.

I pray you're right about them making no headway; however, I am just hoping I can do a small bit to set the record straight just in case...

Deb - thank you (I'm an ex-wife of a "lifer) - for being willing to watch the Watch Dogs!  I think the best information you can go armed with is the correct information.  Where do the Watch Dogs get their so-called facts from?  Maybe you can obtain what they think the facts are and come back with YOUR own research regarding the facts.

Perhaps you can obtain some statistics from the facility where you had your WLS.  Stand strong Deb.  And thank you for being willing to speak for a lot of us!

Yep, my experience is that people who get all worked up about something often have the wrong information or incomplete information and when you come to the table with the facts they still may not back down.

People who yell the loudest, often have little to back that up.

I'm not surprised that "watchdogs" would go after WLS. It makes sense because Active Duty Military can't get WLS (it is against regulations) and who gives a rats patootee about the retired and their families. When my husband was on terminal leave we inquired about a procedure and the "Army" replied: "It is not beneficial to the Army to cover this right before the service member retires"..From that moment on we knew it was not going to be as advertised..You know,

I received the message from Vanessa what's her name also, I figured it was spam :)
