The reason your calcium chew is no good is because it's calcium carbonate. You need calcium citrate. You don't have enough stomach acid anymore to absorb the carbonate. You won't find chewable calcium citrate in most stores. If you want chewable, you'll need to order online. If you need something real affordable, though, buy generic calcium citrate pills at any store, then if they are hard to swallow, dissolve them in a couple ounces of crystal light or other liquid and drink.
For a cheap but good multi, look for Centrum (they have chewables if you prefer) or a generic store brand that is equivalent. Drug stores like CVS and Walgreens sometimes have buy one get one free offers for multivitamins, and for calcium.
