Low carb pie crust X post
Hi! I don't usually post on this forum as I generally hang out on the RNY board. I am making a sugar free pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and would like to try this pie crust, instead of going crustless. I was wondering if anyone has tried: Dixie Carb Counters 1 Net Carb Home Made Press n' Bake Pie Crust Mix? Has anyone heard of this or tried this? if so, what did you think about it?

Hi Tammy,
I was looking for an alternative to make for Thanksgiving and had not heard of this product. I did a search for reviews and found this one and another page of reviews. They are "very" old reviews

While the texture of this crust isn’t bad, I found the taste bitter and distracting from whatever filling I used. It could be that it goes with some flavor pies better than others, but so far I’m not a fan.

If you do try it be sure and let us know what you think. I found some organic pie shells I think I am going to try?
Happy Thanksgiving,
Kathy

Thanks Kathy for the suggestions, I'll have to check them out. It's too late to order for this Thanksgiving anyways so I'll probably either go crustless or make a pecan pie crust I found online. I ordered some sugar free graham cracker pie crusts (Fifty50) that I was going to use with my sugar free pumpkin cheesecake but they haven't come yet. I hope they get here before Thanksgiving.
Try looking online for pie crusts made with almond meal, similar to a graham cracker crust. (Low carb doesn't usually mean low fat, though.) You might find something on the Atkins site, or George Stella's site. Also a blog called Chocolate Covered Katie, and you'll get thousands of hits if you google low-carb recipes.
