Worst Christmas Present Ever Contest!
My mother was a manicurist and always got lots of gifts from her clients. If I was lucky she would give me one of them and say "Happy Birthday".
After my kids were born we went all out on Christmas. To me it is a holiday for kids, for make believe and wishes coming true. I didn't want them to miss that.

I was in the second grade, and we drew names at school. There were only about 100 kids in the entire 8 grades, and we all had X-mas together in the auditorium. All the gifts were piled under the tree, and the principal handed them out one at a time. Every kid in school got a gift---except me.
I still remember the name of the little boy who'd drawn my name but brought no gift. From then on, my mom always sent TWO gifts to school at X-mas with each of us kids---one for whomever's name we'd drawn, and one for US, just in case.
On a lighter note, a few X-mases ago my SIL gave me a pumice stone for X-mas---"Because now you can reach your feet."
Mine would have to be the year I got a coat and a blanket for my bed and a few days after Christmas my mother took all the presents back to the store and got her money back. She was a horrible mother.
ETA: I forgot about the Christmas we had to spend with my father and stepmother. We woke up Christmas day to a tree with tons of gifts under it. My sister and I got nothing. My step mother came over and handed each of us a silver dollar as our gifts. Then she took them back saying she was going to save them for us because if she sent them home with us my mother would just spend them. I never saw that dollar again anyway.
I really never have the Christmas spirit. DH doesn't understand that, but Christmas was always just my mother *****ing about how she couldn't afford it and how my sister and I were just ingrates and wouldn't appreciate any of the gifts and on and on. Then there were always crappy cheap gifts and nothing to be happy about.
