Worst Christmas Present Ever Contest!

Thank you for the birthday wish.  My mom did try to do her best on separating it and telling others no combo gifts, but it really bothered me.  Always, you are lucky you get double presents at Christmas!  No not really, usually I would get forgotten during the hustle and bustle of the season, and when we would see the family, oh yeah, happy birthday.  That is fine now, but tell a 10 year old that is excited to be double digits.  But I really never had parties (I had only 2) and one of them hardly anyone showed up. My poor kids suffer because of it.  I just can not get a party together to save my life.  I make it a small family special day, but that is about it.  We have done a few birthday party's for the kids, and I just cant get into it.  Now every year I get asked by the kids and new hubby what I want for my birthday, and to be honest, nothing.  I just enjoy the day with them and choose to hit a movie for my day.  Funny thing is I swore that I would not have a December Baby...well someone had other ideas, my son was born on the 20th! But I do what I can to make it just as special as an April Birthday...

I feel your pain, my birthday is the day after xmas.  winter bday's suck, xmas bday's suck

my mom at least made an effort to wrap my bday presents in bday paper instead of holiday paper

but it was always too cold for a party and everyone was at home with their own toys ..so blah

I am sure I got some things I didn't like, my mother always tried to buy me clothes that were her style not mine but honestly I have forgotten all that.  Once your family is deceased you try to remember all the happy good memories and cherish them.  I remember my mom always went without to buy me things when I was little and she was unemployed and very sick.  When I was sixteen she bought me a beautiful diamond ring, it was tiny but it was as big as a carat in my eyes.  When I was married and my son was little my ex and I never exchanged gifts, everything was for my son.  And my current boyfriend always buys lovely gifts.  So I guess I really have nothing to offer here.  Best Christmas present would have been far easier for me.

My older sister and I have never been close, we have different mothers and my father adopted my other sister and I, so we aren't actually biologically related, however, she is the most tacky person I know when it comes to gifts.  My father is an auctioneer and has been for over 60 years, he does all kinds of household and estate sales (you see where this is going right?).  We worked an estate sale together and really it was just a load of freaking junk, but somewhere along the line my sister purchased a large box of miscellaneous bathroom stuff.  Old avon bottles, qtips, hand creams etc (it was all unopened just really old).

Guess who got a "gift basket" of individually wrapped toiletries for xmas that year?  Yep, me.  I got a mud mask, Qtips, Hand lotion, emery board and a matchbox car (WTF?? I'm 40 why do I need a stupid toy car?)   and some other random ****  It was all faded and stuff because the woman who died had tons of this crap just shoved in her bathroom, unopened and sitting there.

merry xmas to me.

side note- same year she gave my 18 year old son a toy remote car and not one of those cool ass expensive ones, nope, one of the cheap 10 dollar toy cars that you get at CVS... seriously for an 18 year old? come on.. he was like..uhhhhh mom, wtf?

The man I live with and have known for 15 years(have a 13 year old daughter together) gave me a paper shredder which would be a bad gift but since I suffer from Papyrophobia(fear of paper) to the point I won't touch paperbags or uncoated paper it was the most Bizarre gift ever I mean come on who gives a paper shedder for Christmas, let alone to someone Who you know won't touch paper (My phobia is so bad I have my children hold the paper menus for me if we go out)
