LORETTA-I am a vet. I am a "shoot from the hip" person. I will not be cruel to you, but I will often be brutally honest. I will  not belittle you, but nor will I enable you or pat you on the head, if I feel you are hurting your own health/success. I am NOT a "fairy farts and rainbow" person-ever.

I wish there had more than a handful of helpful peeps when I began my journey. The few there were-I "met" HERE-on OH-and have remained friends with them. Over the years I have met hundreds of peeps, thru OH, both online, and IRL, and encourage you to do the same.

No question is a dumb question. I do, however, see people (not meaning YOU-just people in general) asking the SAME questions over and over, until they get the answer they WANT. You won't get that from a vet who KNOWS that the "answer" is wrong (like not needing protein, that Flintstones are enough vitamins, etc, etc)

I don't stay on the Main Board much, but try to help newbies, as others have helped me. Feel free to PM me, if there's anything I can do for you.

Loretta, I agree with Gina (I know here IRL too, yes we are friends).  Although I'm concerned about what I see going on here lately, and I do plan on joining and participating in other forums besides OH (I'm on a few already) I'll be around here probably too (just maybe not as much).

If I can help in any way, feel free to PM me.

DANA-you may as well stick around, because you already KNOW any and all vitamin/lab questions I'm going to direct to YOU. Nothing in life is ever going to be how we might like it to be-nor are people-but if we can help out others-even just a little-I figure we have made the world a better place (oops..almost passed a fairy fart there--sorry!!)

I cannot begin to imagine MY life without YOU-and being an OH member made THAT possible. I'd hate for anyone else to lose out on what WE have. I love you, my Cajun sister

Lots of vets of all the main surgery types do hang around to share experience and help. It is often a good idea to spend time on the board of whichever surgery you are hoping to have, quite a lot of people do not come on this forum as much as they do on their " own " forum.

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I have never been unrealistic about my wls journey, the first four years were easy rainbows and unicorns whatever the **** that is supposed to mean.  Living with food choices every day thereafter that mean the difference between success and failure is HARD.  As to those who left because their name calling playmates got banned, do you really miss them, what type of support did they really offer?  This board has been through this before, they all leave, build a new ste and are all proud of themselves and ask where that site is now?  Bashers can't live without people to mock so that site got disbanded when they all backstabbed each other to death.  Clearly people wish to fit in and be accepted by the reigning clique, but really are those type of people really your friends who are nice to your face and mock you behind your back anytime they can.  I can honestly say I have never said not even one word behind anyones back, ever, or called anyone a name, I won't say I haven't called people out directly or posted about their childish horrific behaviour towards other people they are supposed to be supporting.  Some people just want to start trouble thats all they are looking for, their is no paying it forward when everything they write is about how their ring leader got banned and the injustice, honestly it was about time, I blame OH for letting it go on so long and get so far out of hand before they acted.  Good riddance is my opinion perhaps now the 77 I  have blocked are really gone, well gone to the dark side anyway.  I love to be a thorn in their side because no one can ever drive me to become a mean spirited, jealous person like they are.  Buh bye!
