Old-timers: who still does support?

My support group closed when the surgeon stopped practicing. I haven't found another one.

 Not sure where in NJ you live, but there are several groups in north jersey and central jersey that I am aware of. I was one of Kamelgard's patients from when he practiced out of University Hospital...I stayed with the dr that took over when he left to start his practice and then was "wooed" back to him for follow up. One month after my switch, he called to say he was closing his practice. nice. Visit the NJ Forum and scroll Tom C.'s postings...every now and again, he will post a comprehensive listing of support groups all over NJ.

Thanks! Yeah, there was no follow up after surgery, he stopped practicing. I don't get it.

 My Surgeon was too far to drive so I didn't go, but that being said I feel it's a valueable tool for staying on track and regret not doing so.

I need to go to Christine's support group that is closer to where I live

Almost 7 years out, went to support faithfully (every meeting) over 1hr each way from my home until my surgeon retired his practice & the group with him, about 3 yrs out...

A couple of years without, still used on-line support regularly (even if just to read others posts)

New group formed in my town about 2 yrs ago, I knew someone from that surgeons office and asked to come as a guest the 1st time, they welcomed me with open arms & I am again a faithful attendee...

Personally, I have always felt continuing to give & get support is key to making this surgery a success, many would not agree, but this is from me, even talking and hearing from newbies reminds me where I've been & helps me see when I'm making mistakes that I need to re-correct to stay on track...
