6 year Sugiversary- There and Back Again
Today is my six year anniversary of my WLS. I wanted to share with you the good, the bad, and the good again. I started this journey at 306 lbs. and at 15 months out, I was at my lowest at 151 lbs. but mostly hung out around 155 lbs.
My second year out, I had to have surgery for an incisional hernia. During this period, I gained about 10 lbs. back, not bad. Then the big set back came the next year due to economy, job, stress, anxiety and a lot of other things going on in my life that cause me to take care of others and forget about me. The carbs that year and a half, cost me another 60 lb. gain for a total of 70 lbs. over all.
Last May on Mothers Day my daughter asked me was I happy and was I taking care of myself. It was a wake up call. The next day, I came back to OH, I started back to basics just like a newbie and starting walking. At first, 20 minutes then up to 1 hour a day, every day. My husband has been my biggest supporter walking every step with me. I am proud to say that I took off 69 lbs. of the regain and now weigh in at 156 lbs.
My new journey now is to get a tummy tuck or LBL to get the remaining loose skin remove. This trip of mine has had its ups and downs but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I have never regretted it and I know if I had not had it, who knows what I would weigh today. I am very grateful to OH for being here so I have a place to come and find something out. It doesn't matter how long you have been a WLS graduate, I am happy to say that I learn something new from somebody everyday.
A heartfelt thank you to all my OH friends for sharing your journeys. They really do give people hope for their own success. I have tried to post pictures underneath, if they do not appear, click on my profile and you can see my before and after pictures.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! thank you for sharing your all inspiring journey. It is so good to know that going back to basics and picking up the pace does work .... My mom always told me that one of the best measures of success is being able to get up and start over again... this has proven to be true in so many aspects of my life ... and more now in my life post WLS.
Thanks for sharing .... HAPPY 6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO YOU! I wish you many many many more and nothing but the best of your journey with all its ups and downs ... it is so worth isn't it? Again CONGRATS.

Tess - First of all thank you for sharing your wonderful story. You tell it like it is and give others an idea of what they can expect post WLS if they are not always diligent (Myself included!) I am so happy for you that your journey has been one of success. I agree that we can learn so much from OH and others on this forum - I know I do every day! Best of luck to you in the future and luck with your TT &/LBL. I contemplate surgery myself as I too have excess skin but for now have to concentrate on getting back on track! Thanks again for your post! Regards, Mary
