Do you recall what was said about understanding your own metabolism? I would have been interested in that. I try to explain to people how I need to be under 1000 calories a day to see any loss and if I hit 1300 for a few days in a row im gaining. Meanwhile even my own Drs will pull out an app and tell me at my age, weight, activity level I can lose 1-2 lbs a week on 1600 or so. Frustrates me so much!

At the Boot Camp at GHP, they told us one lb a week loss is OK, and they would be happy with that. I am hypothyroid, post hysterectomy, 57yrs, personal trainer, at the gym 3-4 days a week for 2 hrs, 20 weight machines, and treadmill cardio. 120g protein, 20-30 carbs, 64 + fluid.  No cheating. One lb a week is all that I lose!!!  I did lose 110 lbs in 6 months, a slow down is inevetable with 25 lbs to go to my goal. If I lose one lb a day, it will take me the next 6 months to get to goal.  My doctors group thought I could stop here, but  I am not ready yet. I dont see any way possible to increase weight loss speed, with my D.S. and stay healthy. They say to up the protein and fat to help, and increase fiber- veggies, and fruit. I added those in small quantities.

Excellent post, Anne!  I am 8 years out, and these are all great reminders.  Some other folks chimed in with some excellent, helpful things as well.  I am reminded why I come here and need to come here every day still at this far out.  It is a life long journey we are all on.
